i'll reserve judgment

aphex doesn't excite me nearly as much as he used to, to be honest. i can't help feeling he's fallen behind over the last decade. but i'd love to be proved wrong

Everyone will say it's a disappointment and forget about it, then realise it's great in 5 years time.

I'd be inclined to agree except I actually gave drukqz another chance two weeks ago. Still meh.

Really? I stuck it on headphones to go for a run the other week and thought it was A1. Aside from the plinky-plonk tracks it's proper rave, I think the adrenalin boost of running helped in appreciating that....

i remember him saying he purposefully left his truly groundbreaking material off drukqz because he didn't want all the copyists nicking his techniques. it was like, yeah, he's lost it

it was a good album, but it wasn't a huge leap forward from richard d james. would've been better as a single album

there just aren't really many good hooks and too many tracks I thought. Analord and The Tuss were pretty so so but at least they had hooks.

I love some of that Tuss stuff. Enough to buy it and actually listen to it. Crazy shit.

The Tuss was ok. Alspacka and Synthacon 9 are brilliant, though.

The Tuss is hooktastic, but I'd rather the mania of the Druqks tracks... Analord is growing on me steadily, though, some deep stuff in that. I don't think I've even listened to all the tracks from all the 12"s though!

the piano stuff was nice on that recent documentary film

without the hooks I'm just pretty bored of his pallete of sounds.

hopefully analord will pull him out of that digital sameyness.. .maybe the Tuss was the remenants of the old style.. kinda sounded like it.

The set with Hecker at Bloc definitely suggested he wanted to do SOMETHING different or extreme.... and it worked in parts, though was completely confused in others.

funny that him and jenkinson mouthed off loads and then went back... probably when they realised just what a ridiculous amount of work the label would have done in their name.

I think this is a veiled dig at me. From that time I was on "Jools Holland" and told him I'd outgrown HOTP.

i thought you were a bit ungracious in that mojo feature

i'd actually forgotten all about the tuss record. listening now for the first time ever. it's very good. just business as usual, innit

that's my problem with aphex. he's never stopped being good, but then he hasn't done anything very surprising either for 10 years

It was when he did Live 8 that he really started to believe his own hype.
