I was mucking about with my Micro Mod the other day also.
Any online locations for patches would be much appreciated. Cheers. BTW Steev, any chance you could post up a select few zipped patches somewhere for download? |

Loz you just gotta go to that link, more patches than you could possibly want.
I don't really have a few select patches, I just have thousands and I stumble through them now and then.. and thrash about a bit ![]() and yeah those J.J.Clark tutorials really sorted me out too. |

and there's a book from wizoo, the nord modular guide second edition - it's an easy way to learn creating new patches and to know how the different modules work.

how much do you have to pay ? Think it's not much - this wizoo books prices are very low these days. IMO learning how to program your own patches is the most important thing ! Second is to get a MIDI Controler with 16 potentiometers 8 to control a modulars VCOs and FM or other modulation parameters like LFOs, 4 to control the filter ADSR and 4 to the amp ADSR ... i can tell you - total modular madness

hey guys, for those of you that owned a G1 and are now switching over to a G2, i'm not clear what the benefits of the G2 are. I'm thinking about getting a G2 engine or a G1 keyboard, which would you prefer?

G2 all the way Ben. It doesn't seem like it's such a massive improvemnt on paper or on first glance.. but it is massive... Being able to communicate between slots and output midi makes the thing immensely powerful. The G1 had several really annoying shortcomings that are fully addressed by the G2.
And apart from the functionality and usability side it just plain sounds better, with much more variation in sound available. I could write pages and pages and pages about how wonderful it is after spending the last two weeks solidly with it. |

Example of something you couldn't do on the G1.. Slot A containing a patch purely sending out sequencer data to slots B, C, and D.. Slot D also sending out a modified version of this sequencer data via midi to an external synth.. external synth audio rerouted into Slot B to be treated and modulate Slot B audio.
Just massive feedback loops and machines of lovliness. You basically program it like the G1 but it's a million miles away in what you can achieve. This is without even considering the extra modules which make things more efficient and expand the possibilities anyway. |

Actually since swaping my Nord G1 Rack for the keyboard version (with some kind soul on here) I've not really played with the G2. I seem to find having the keyboard that comes with the G1 to be more expressive and it's add an extra something to some old patches.
The engine is great, but seems to lack something without the knobs and keyboard. |

True.. I am approaching it from the G2 keyboard version.. although it could be any keyboard and knobs adding that hands on thang. The G2 is actually increasing my use of the G1 no end as well.. now I can do interesting sequencing things via the G2 with the more impressive (and cpu heavy) patches on the G1.

I've also found that having the G1 keyboard has breathed new life in to my DSI Evolover. I might try pointing the sequencers from the G2 @ it as well.

Anybody know of any locations where I could hear examples of what the g2 is capable of?
Clavia's site always has the wankiest demo mp3s available. |

there's a demo plugin available @ http://www.clavia.se/G2/demo/SetupMo...2Demo_v126.zip ...shure it's not the hardware, but perhaps it might help you geting a better feeling of what the G2 is capable of
![]() i downloadet it ... but it crashed my pc when it tried choosing another audio source in the preferences ![]() |

The best thing about the g2 is the UI (on the keyboard version) you can try the demo and check out the editor but you really need to have a go with the hardware to see the full benifits of the new design.

The demo tells you little... I was really dissapointed when I tried it... But it gives you the idea of the scope.. the G2 is capable of what you are capable of...

mmm, unfortunately i don't see how i'll afford a G2 keyboard, so if it really was down to the G2 engine or a keyboard version of a G1... will i kick myself if i don't go for the G2?

Good question, Ben.
Being a poor student myself, the g2 keys are WAY out of my price range and probably will be for a few years. IS the g2 engine worthwhile, and can anybody recommend a decent controller to go with one (i.e. has anybody in the nord community discovered a external controller that gives one the most of what the g2 is capable of). Maybe 2 behringer BCR2000s? [because of the fact the rotory knobs are endless and double as buttons] |

I reckon so. The Keyboard G2 is very very nice, but ultimately the cool things that i've put my time into would still be amazing on the G2 Rack. If you already have a keyboard and a knob/slider box then then the G1 keyboard won't really give you anything extra. The G2 is so much more powerful the comparison is barely valid imo...
