if you could have grown up anywhere..?

so if you had the ability to to go back in time and relive your life and grow up again in a different place, where would you do it?
I think that I would probably like to have grown up in london. I think it would have been cool to be able to live in a city that has/had a real strong techno scene. going to the lost parties and then being able to travel up to scotland to attend the sativae nights would certainly have bene cool.

I grew up on Cape Cod, and can't think of a better place for a child to be at that time. If there was one, well it's a bit too late now anyhow.

So let me ask a different question: If you could be any place else now, doing what you want to be doing for lving, where would you be and doing what?

You're in San Juan, man. I've been there, so I KNOW how many beautiful women there are in that area. Finding one you can get along with...that's up to you. Admittedly, the only women I met there, while very beautiful, were a little shallow to say the least.

However, I can definately say that there are worse beaches in the world to relax on. Nothing beats seeing the fellas out on the beach with congas, and everyone just up and dancing to sprirituals in the middle of the afternoon. That's some special stuff you got there.

Europe, anywhere in europe... You kids have it sooo bloody nice.. Aside from the racism and overpopulation issues (plus the cold and crappy weather) it's a cultural mecca.

Of course, I'd probably be a wanker by my own definition if I grew up anywhere other than where I did (japan-ohio-portland [that is, if I'm still growing]).

I'm glad I'm from europe (well as much as you can call the UK europe).. but to make a sweeping statement about it being a cultural mecca.. that makes as much sense as saying the whole of the US is a cultural mecca due to places like NYC and San Fran. You ain't seen the europe most of us know I reckon!

From one perspective, maybe.. What I meant was - in the states I can drive from portland to seattle (2-3 hours) and cross cultural group that primarily speaks one language and has next to zero familiarity with another culture. In europe, I can spend this same amount of time on a road (exaggeration, slightly) and cross several culture groups that - due to geographic proximity, have more familiarity with difference and speak a multitude of languages.

The big cities aren't even in my equation...

I've driven across america (coast to coast) and you will find variations on a singular culture (for the most part) but the relationship of distance and variety are very different compared to mainland europe.

So, yes.. I can imagine europe has its share of cultural wastelands.. country folk and what not. I wasn't so much implying they were the mecca, but the fact I can enter and exit their culture and cross several others in a days (or even weeks) travel makes it the mecca of the western world.

I wish i was from a place that doesnt exist really, but i imagined it, ready? ok, this is my place:

Like some overgrown version of Chelmsford, the place is a sort of heaven; the vegetation has grown in to all sorts of fukicng mad shapes.like a DODECHAHDRUN and rhombus. loads of fit birdswomen naked in an apparent state of euphoria, some are dancing others throwing balls of light to each other, like sort of advanced Areobe/frisbee A massive warm river below.Music is heard, which seems to be generated by some sort of organic structure that changes shape with the music. The tune isSalt and pepper -push it i sit there talking to a duck, he doesnt know any swear words, cause swearing doesnt exist. i can wank off whenever i feel like it and up to 8 times a day with no decrease in performance. I ride on a tigers back and go really fast around everywhere visiting mates and having a larf, snorted.

i went to the yorkshire dales last week and realised again it is a place totally unique in the whole world, so ancient and beautiful. so i think i would like to have spent some of my childhood there, roaming around in nature. only up to age 10 though. then moved to a city down south.

i was well jealous of my mates that grew up in the Scottish highlands. They got to do so much ace outdoors stuff when they were young which just wasn't possible for city kids. But as you point out, when they reached their tennage years they all got itchy feet and spent loads of time on the bus to Glasgow and back every weekend.
