I'd like to know about anyone's experiences in japan. I'm hoping to go stay and work there for the summer (flights are cheaper than to Europa). Maybe this is far to general an info request. But any anecdotes and "musts" are entertaining and insightful ... music related of course is best.
I'm reading this japan travel diary written by this woman who is a middle-aged, national radio broadcasting corp arts program producer. She seems to be name-dropping all her bland Toronto arts scene friends' names. self-indulgent a la maximum. It's up to date and lots of detail, so that's it's good side. But I'd prefer some pointers I could better relate to.
Anyone want to join me in Japan?

I myself have never been there but a girl I know lived
and worked in Tokyo for about 6 months and she said
she had a blast. I say do it, I bet it would be fun.

yo, i am an american living in tokyo. here's my e-mail
briangibbs@hotmail.com
gimme a mail.
as far as advice, i think if you come here without knowing a soul, it is really a lonely place. especially if u don't speak nihongo...
there is ALOT of techno here though, so if you have $65 to $100 US to spend to go out and hear music for the evening, then you are set. it is expensive here to go out. but it IS worth it. this month alone we have had dj slip, jeff mills, ben sims, james RUSKIN, and a bunch of other people playing around tokyo...
GO TO MANIAC LOVE ON A TECHNO NIGHT. the liquid room is ok i guess...
what are u doing? teaching english?
what nationality are you?
GO TO SHIBUYA AND HANG AROUND THE RECORD STORES! talk to people you don't know. make friends if u can.
anyway, good luck and gimme a mail.

Gunjack... I sent you an email... check your hotmail account... C'MON ME BOY!
KDub ... Why don't you come... unless your job is too permanent. It's not unrealistic to cover your costs while u are there by working. The challenge is to be able to pay the airfare, though it's not excessive. C'MON ME BOY!
