what platform are you on. mac or PC? also what where the programs you were uninstalling? if you are uninstalling a program that owns the folders that your mp3s were in then those folders and subsequent data are going the route of the program. this can also happen if the folders are shared folders.

all my mp3s are on their own drive that has no programs installed on it!

whoa! I don't know what to say to that. do a search maybe and scan all your drives for them. or maybe your drive has gotten corrupted? wish I could be of more help...

yeah, they are actually deleted. i have that much more hard space on my drive. it's crazy. i did a search with a file recovery program and found them all, but i've got to go through and undelete them. i am just baffled at how this could happen!

hey kari, the most important thing is to act fast, and use the machine that you lost the files on as little as possible, as the still there (but marked deleted) files will slowly be overwritten with new data as you use the system.
try ontrack disc recovery, I had a lot of success with it some years ago when I pulled a similar move, and it was easy to use - you should be able to get it via kazaa or suprnova I believe.
