can anyone help me out a bit to grasp the meaning of intertexuality?

basically its about regarding texts as being interconnected- the relationship betweeen author and reader/viewer on one axis, and text and other texts on another one. really basically that is. theres shitloads on the net about semiotics (do your own a.s. byatt essay!)
