Hey, just thought i post to gauge and see how many of us are actually up for a get together in NYC, so who's interested?

Wow, i must say, i'm a little impressed i was able to pull that poll off, somehow i thought it would be more involved.

I'd like it in new york as that would be easier for me to get to. but the uk would be great as well. if we do the uk we need to plan it far enough in advance so that people like myself can get funds together and time off of work. if it was in nyc I'd only take a day or two off. if it is in the UK I might as well take like 10 days.

Would be cool to do a joint UK/NY party on the same night with some sort of webcam hook up so we could all wave at one another from across the pond! Ahhhh but then theres the time difference - 5 hrs is it?? Sure it could be worked around.....

i would like NYC more cause i have place to stay there and friends who are into electronic music. never been in UK yet though i have few friends in London. one of them is a VJ and the other one is ex DJ (AnaBanana). both of them are macedonian girls :-)

oh yeah, we can definately do something in the UK as well, and we can have more then one party, I just thought i'd see if there are even enough folks in the US on erutufon to have a party here.

well if you want some europeans to make it to nyc, best follow that "far enough in advance" period anyhow...

i think the time thing wouldn't be that big of a deal, since parties here seem to start/end earlier than in the uk. we definitely could at least have part of it done that way. have some type of live chat going....which will be very amusing to read the next day.

@tonewrecker - i can't do it in oct...will be away in brazil (hoepfully!). are you around any other times??

Whoops..Tony's wedding is actually Sept. 10th. Good thing to get the dates right. Bob Brown's wedding is in Oct, but it's in ohio, not NYC.

the planning continues...

it sounds cool.
anyone have the resources to get a venue?
im thinking of coming to NYC in October...could change it if there
was reason to.

karitek
11th August 2004, 17:22
well, we could always have it in our loft. it's as big as most small venues here, and free.

yeah, we've already got the PA, and if the weather is nice then we can head up to the roof and party there.

BTW, let me just point out how useless i feel realizing that no one wants to use my crap poll at the top there.

oh ben.

i dont think the options quite cover the range of things people would like to express

the thing i reckon is that most people would love to go but geographically cant.

so 'quite happy in other parts of the world' isnt strictly true...

Just thought it would be easier to see how many people could could come, i'm still not sure how many board members we have from the states here, let along the east coast.

I think we'd love to have you all over to visit.

BTW, have you been reading Phillip Pullman again? Whats that daemon look like again?

djerome
11th August 2004, 20:53
yeah i would consider if i was not on the left coast ;)

oolong

same as djerome, it would be about as easy for me to get to NYC as it would to get to london :-p

i actually have been re-reading his Sally Lockhart books - set in Victorian London, and excellent!

but my daemon, just out of shot in that picture, is a little african grey parrot. i think.

if you were thinking to have the party in november or december i`d be well up for coming to that.
kari`s been tormenting me for ages with news of her rooftop NY parties and then adding insult to injury by telling me about future 'footloose' theme parties :illin:

karitek
12th August 2004, 18:51
hehe - the footloose one is going to be great. guilty pleasure songs, kevin bacon games, and general silliness. we're also throwing a bonfire night party that will be a whole tribute to british culture (think visuals of the young ones, british food, lager and fireworks).

the problem is that by nov or dec it'll be to cold to hold a propper roof party - although i'd love to have you over emef!!

Do I find it highly amusing that a few people considered having the US No-future meet-up party in the UK...

But any road, if its gonna be NYC, keep us all informed cos us 'Euros' can probably gatecrash NYC - if we are feeling flush...

Not, that I ever make it to anything abroad - I live in hope, hope of a man with 29.5 paid holiday days to spend before the end of the year... :)

Heh - looks like you have more than one place to stay... ;)

OK - I'm in, and can do it anytime but Oct., as I'll be across the pond.

I have plenty of resources, too, as I posted in the other thread where this came up...
