are there new values creating new a sound? i mean since music was dominated by funk or groove are we going back to stiffness, 80´s revival (yah i know it´s bad to say so) and regression? is techno/electronic dead...i mean has anyone here spread his wings and did it: listen to a live-band involving real sweat, beer and rock´n´roll...feels quite alive to me compared with the leftovers forgotten in dark caves performing their old rites...everybody happy!!! everybody smiling!!! ah fuck i´m feeling so tired...

no techno and electronic isnt dead
yes live bands can be fantastic
i go to loads of gigs, always have done
they arent mutually exclusive of course
super_collider are both, there are loads of examples of that too.
its all just music in the end.

It's just in a crisis. But, as everything today is going in cycles, it will eventually rise again. Music that had such an impact cannot be forgotten.

nonsense - electronic music is creatively as brilliant as it's ever been; the music industry as a whole is in financial crisis, and musicians are having to tighten their belts, but there is endless good music out there.

yeh, I don't really see why it has to be either/or either, there's plenty of shit on both sides as well, that's for sure.

in any case, it's a bit silly to say "electronic music sucks now, so instrumental music (which imho doesn't really exist anyways anymore) must be where it's at"...go listen to the stuff you have fun listening to, but to extrapolate that "electronic music is dead" because you enjoy listening to live bands right now is bullcrap.

the best tracks out there at the moment are amazing.
theres not much of it but it is innovative and futuristic.
some of the most fucked up music out there couldnt have been made 4 or 5 years ago because the new technology wasnt up to it.

as always the dire stuff is depressingly bad and there is a lot more of it to wade through.

some of the tracks i have been buying over the last year or so are the most freaky and fucked up trax ever.

That's true, emef, but who is playing it except the few usual suspects who we all know?
