wave twisters - the movie

I just found out about this the other day, so please don't hurt me if ya'll have already seen this - but this is just way to cool! I wrote a little text on it over @ memepool so I'll just post the same one here...

<a href="http://www.djqbert.com/">DJ Q-Bert</a>, former member of <a href="http://www.skratchpiklz.com/">the Invisibl Skratch Piklz</a> (heck, <a href="http://www.rollingstone.com/artists/bio.asp?oid=6454&cf=6454">these guys are so good</a>, they made their <a href="http://www.vestax.com/products/pmc-07pro_isp.htm">own mixer</a>) created a concept album by the name of <a href="http://www.turntabletoystore.com/store/?product_type_id=7">Wave Twisters</a> back in 98, which, among other things, maintained a story line throughout the entire LP. This fantastic record then spawned a unique multimedia project: <a href="http://www.wavetwisters-themovie.com/">Wave Twisters, the movie</a>. Reason enough for me to finally buy a DVD player, despite <a href="http://www.skratchcon.com/ttnn/DCForumID7/305.html#1">the</a> <a href="http://www.skratchcon.com/ttnn/DCForumID7/305.html#2">warnings</a> about <a href="http://www.skratchcon.com/ttnn/DCForumID7/305.html">watching it too often</a>.

Oh my gosh - I'd forgotten about that... I've been trying to get hold of it. Is it as good as it should be? It's like animated graf art about dentists from outer space, right?

yes, it is. actually I first caught wind of this when scanning some p2p programs for turntablist / dmc footage, at least an excerpt can be found, and that is gr8 enough already.

basically I got it this week and am staging a big movie evening this weekend, so I can give a real review of the full movie thereafter - nonetheless that excerpt left me aching for more!

saw q-bert in manchester last month. the guy is unbelievable.

anyway the event also advertised a screening of wave-twisters the movie which didn't happen. bastards.

i think there's only a US DVD available right?
correct me if i'm wrong.

well I watched it this weekend, it's a bit short, in the sense that leaves you wanting more, but it's a fawking good movie, and really something quite unique thanks to the different styles employed. really complements q-bert et als turntablist shenanigans to a t...

wave twisters, I was watching that during a break at school. things dope, I need to pick up a copy. has anyone seen the Shiggar Fraggar show. that was a pirate radio show q-bert did with the picklz back in 96. it was live turntable orchestration. I have one vid and 2 of the cds. pretty cool stuff if you are into a lot of scratching.

I have some audio recordings of the shiggar fraggar show, didn't know there was a video! gots to keep my eyes peeled for that... are there any other good places on the net to get this stuff from than q-berts own site?
