a letter in this month's The Wire

Just wanted to say a thank you to Peter Shapiro for the Invisible Jukebox feature that he did with Super_Collider in The Wire 220. It was great fun to do, and a good excuse to listen to some ace music. Still, I felt like writing in over just one point though: in the introductory bio of the piece, Shapiro states that I spent my youth "on the run" from Pinochet's regime in Chile. As a mark of respect for the suffering of genuine Chilean political exiles, many of whom really did spend many terrible years hiding from Piinonchet's regime, I would like to let readers know that although I was born in Chile, I have never claimed to have been on the run hiding out from motel to motel. In fact I had a pretty normal upbringing in the Midlands, which has always been a lively multicultural area of Britian. Anyway, thanks again for the piece and the groovy photos.
