Check out this upcoming softwre from Cycling74 .... Along with Ableton Live it shows a trend in Laptop live audio looping - what do you all think bout it? better than using logic and markers live thats for sure

The idea seems to be great but.... I´m not sure about all that laptop-thing. There´s nothing about it technically - but livesets do become a little boring...??!

i checked out ableton which seems to become very popular indeed but i wasn't too fascinated. it's optimized for playing back samples, and they sure did a very good job with the interface. but why play back samples only (vsti's are not supported - yet) while i can play back samples AND do synthesis and do even wilder things with both together in reaktor ? i can even build different interfaces for different tracks. but i do not doubt you can get very good livesets out of ableton, only for me it's not so interesting. for using vsti's live i'd prefer fruity loops.
i never used a sequencer program live (except for creator on atari in earlier times), yeah i think putting markers live wouldn't be too great... cubase & logic are cool for arranging but perhaps not for live use, especially if virtual synths run on the same machine...

ruben - is it really so much cooler to watch someone on stage with hardware synths than with a laptop ? i think the optimum is to have 2 people (like s_c) - one going wild and doing a real show and one tweaking the sounds. but it's hard or impossible to do both if you're on your own... lol

c_s; yeah, I know and I think we just have to deal with that from now on.
If I had to make something live - I think it would include my laptop aswell so....
But YES, I think it´s crazy to watch someone playing hardware stuff, also like S_C hehehe... And Op:l Bastards.. at the Sonar-festival. 8-()

still haven't made my mind up whether Live! is worth 349 euro....did my first solely live pa two weeks ago using the demo version plus making waves (mw), which I actually think is more flexible if somewhat heavier on system resources, going to see if its possible to midi the things together and use a kaoos pad as a midi controller...I still think that mw is an under rated product...people seem to be a bit snobby about it, but the latest upgrade available soon should fill the minor holes it has...I definately going to do the live laptop thing again...I think people enjoyed watching me struggle in the dark with a heath robinson set-up..it certainly gave me an adrenilin rush..
