So I just got my first real good look at pro tools today in school.
so I was wondering if anyone here uses pro tools to make techno
or whatever. if you do or you have used it before, what do you think??

My roomie Scott had a full pro-tools system set up for awhile on a Mac G3 tower that he used for mastering completed tracks. I didn't see him work on creating raw tracks in there mainly because he's a modular synth freak and used all outboard gear for so long. Check his work on his label "HiPass Music"...it's all mastered in Protools along with a finalizer chained in digitally. It seems like a good piece of software as long as you have a highend audio interface with it. I'll get him to give me some info on it. I think he's using Nuendo now because he switched over to a PC in his studio.

The audio grid editor is great for programming, but the midi side is still not really up to scratch. Thats why steinberg have imitated the digidesign audio engine for Cubase SX. Haven't tried it but if it lives up to the hype then i'd choose that.
Fuck its late.

Yeah, I use Pro Tools for finishing tracks... never really used the midi-tracks but know some that have made lots of tracks that way. It´s perfect for "remixing" and adding tricks and effects to your tracks. Very easy to use. So go for it.. If you wanna play a little with it to learn it better, go download the free-version on their website.

I will have plenty of time to check out pro tools.
I will be spending the next month on it at school,
and then I will be using it some more here and there
while I am in different classes.
I just wanted some opinions from users who actually
make techno and dont use to track say rock music.
