I was searching on gemm.com and came across this.
over $100 for mr vogel's 'we equate machines with funkiness'.
is this just a rip off, or is this record more rare than I had thought?

How about this one (http://www9.gemm.com/ddc/search.pl?sid=361729140&key=1702&a_refno=GML636845649)

It's on my want list, but this price is absurd!

what sort of drugs is that website on?

I sold some records on ebay recently which are fairly rare.. and for good money, but the prices on that site are like 4 times the amount I got after heavy bidding. It's just bullshit...

gemm is just a web front for lots of web based shops, its the individual shop thats taking the piss, not gemm. its really good for rare stuff.

i sold my copy of "the way" by global communication for 50.00 dollars once. kid approached me after my set at a club in st. louis and asked me to sell it to him. i told him 50 bucks, he gave me 50 bucks. i should have asked for more.

shit, they want $275.00 for Inhabit the Machines.
i was only able to get that record by trading with a friend of mine.
i had to give up 69's 'My Machines' though and i still haven't gotten that back.

since a shop sells at a fixed price it´s no wonder that they try to make their share. a seller at ebay can depend on the price battle with a possibly high final bid. so what. nobody´s obliged to buy at either place.

Anyone who buys at those prices needs brain surgery.

is there a database somewhere to know what records are trading/selling for? something like a Kelly Blue Book but for records.

I came across a website that had listings for gear that was great. It broke it down by make and then model. listed original price and then current price and even had links to auctions that were selling said gear. I wish I could remember what the site was though..:(

but I haven't seen a site for records. that is a really good idea.

i´d recommend www.discogs.com, but you probably know that.
great & funny place atm, frankie bones is selling hundreds of records to the users in the forums, definitely worth a look!

www.swtek.net is good for freeparty-related records, also some brighton style there.
