dear musicians and indy record people,
below is a press release type thing for a forthcoming project in Bristol run by me and Lady lucy of Independent Heroine/The Cube.
Basically - we are having a shop where we want to sell things made by people - if you have pressed your own record or are an independent we'll sell your stuff for no profit to ourselves but all profit to you (apart from about a quid to cover photocopying )
I've made a rough temp website which contains a bit more info about Too Many Things events and suchlike.
(no hippy shit please)
TooManyThings -Press Release.
Would you like us to sell your independent things?
(art, records, t-shirts, zines, books, underwear, other stuff)
Too Many Things ...
is an independent shopping centre art project umbrella brought to you by Independent Heroine and Nuisance organisations. Based at The Cube Cinema, Bristol - Too Many Things will sell and promote independent work made by un real people who make and do too many things.
Too Many Things is currently devising it's own currency. As well as being able to traditionally buy the things you can swop stuff. Our selling style is inspired by the ethos of Bring n' Buy, Jumble and Tombola.and similar Art things such as Last Chance Saloon, Superswops and Disinfortainment.
The shop will initially be twice monthly on saturday afternoons at The Cube Cinema, Dove Street South, Kingsdown, Bristol. On each shopping day Too Many Things will also host micro symposiums, artists presentations, workshops, performances and live art. The Cube bar will be open, there will be music and djing and lingerie and lounging and selling and buying.Dates will be posted on the Cube website soon - http://www.cubecinema.com.
Too Many Things will also take the form of a catalogue/scrap-book through which people can browse and buy and sell too many things.
The first of Too Many Things is expected to be held somewhere around 16th August 2002.
We are currently looking for things to sell.
