yeah found those news.....
Cast: Unknown

Crew: Darren Aronofsky (director/co-writer), Frank Miller (co-writer), Eric Watson (producer).

Release Date: TBA

Studio: Warner Bros.

Plot: After young Bruce Wayne's parents are murdered, he seaks revenge on criminals in Gotham. Batman: Year One (which is based on a cult favorite comic book with the same name) tells the tale of Bruce becoming Batman and his first year fighting crime.

Why: After the pathetic Box Office performance of the last Bat-film, (Batman & Robin) Warner Bros. wants to start the series over again with Darren Aronofsky at the helm and make this series closer to the comic books. As mentioned before: This is a series restart not a prequel.

----------------------------------------------

and a Movie called Fountain..

Cast: Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, Ellen Burstyn, Sean Gullette

Crew: Darren Aronofsky (director/co-writer), Ari Handel (co-writer), Eric Watson (producer).

Release Date: PROJECT ON HOLD

Studio: Warner Bros.

Plot: When asked about the film Darren said, "It's a post-Matrix, metaphysical Sci-Fi movie, and it's very different to anything you've seen. I call it post-Matrix because Matrix reinvented sci-fi in the same way Star Wars did, or 2001. I'm in a new environment, I'm trying to figure out what type of film would play to an audience now, and I think we came up with something really cool."
To read AICN's script review of the film (which also includes plot description) click here.

Note: The Fountain was also referred to as Darren's Untitled Scifi Film, as the title was not revealed for sometime. It was also previously called Last Man.

No it isn't going to be Aranofsky... the most recent references I can find to him directing are from 2000. It's being made by Christopher Nolan (Memento) and Christian Bale is Batman.

I think Bale is a good choice for Wayne. He's got that quiet menacingness about him, even in Brannagh's Henry V he looks scary.

He'll certainly seem more menacing than any of the previous film Batmen.

You know, the best site for upcoming movies is Greg's Preview site that now resides at yahoo.com (I've been reading it since it was independent operated from www.upcomingmovies.com).

Amazingly well structured, and very very credible (hence the fact yahoo hired him).

here is the batman page: Batman (http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hp&id=1808490909&cf=prev)

btw - here is the batmobile:

note:

Sequel Notes: (12/16/03) While talking to About.com this week, Michael Caine revealed that he has already signed on for two possible sequels (a career first for him!).

It also doesn't look to be based on Year One anymore:

Premise Notes: (9/11/03) Warner Bros. is being very tight-lipped about what exactly this take on the 'Batman' legacy is like, except that it will focus on the younger Batman (ie, not long after the setting of Batman: Year One). What is definitely known is that this film will follow one of the adventures of billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne, whose obsession with bringing justice to the evil-doers of Gotham City compels him to fight crime as Batman, master detective. There have long been rumors that the villain (or at least one of them) will be the Scarecrow, who uses drugs and chemicals to alter people's perception of reality, sending them into nightmare-like hallucinations. Harry Knowles of AICN is also reporting that another villain will be Ra's Al Ghul, an international criminal mastermind obsessed with taking over the world (and maintaining his immortality, after having lived 600+ years). Knowles also reports that much of the film will be set in London. The appearance of Ra's Al Ghul also suggests that his daughter, Talia (whom Bruce Wayne has had a romantic relationship in the comics), will also be featured. (11/21/03) Potentially clarifying the situation quite a bit, Cinescape reports that the Scarecrow may indeed be in the movie as the villain in the introductory scenes that establish the new Batman (in Gotham City), before he moves on to his next case in London involving Ra's Al Ghul, in which Ra's would then be the primary villain for the rest of the movie. (2/12/04) The super-spoiler-filled information posted last month at Dark Horizons has been confirmed as accurate. Basically, it's an origin story with Ra's al Ghul as the main villain and Jonathan Crane (AKA the Scarecrow) as a secondary villain though he's apparently not called the Scarecrow in the script. (3/26/04) Earlier this month, IGN FilmForce received a synopsis of the story which ties some of the known elements together.

btw - I'm not a batman fan.

5. Protozoa (1993)
6. Supermarket Sweep (1991)

No fountain, but 1 and 2 are new to me so I'm about to hunt down some info on those to post here. Actually, #2. is a very famous manga comic from japan that some friends of mine were into years back. Humm.. never read it then, maybe I should tell them about this. As to fountain, I read about that as well, so now I'm REALLY curious.

I sure as hell hope it doesn't go the way of Neuromancer (directed by chris cunningham and featuring a fully original aphex twin score).

Btw - under writter credits, their is a movie called "Below" from 2002 that is credited to him that I've also never heard of.

WAIT -

According to this page:

Batman: Year One (http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hp&cf=prev&id=1808403071) we're talking about 2 seperate movies. Batman 5, by nolan, is seperate from what Kaoz was talking about..

ok, it all makes sense now.. [read the side panel on the right]

Never got the full story, but the upshot is we'll never see it. I'll hunt around and see what the net has to say, but last I heard the production company took down their website and quietly shelved the project.
