Excellent news guys!!! Well done. You must be very proud of yourselves as that's a peer reviewed award system is it not, chaired by Mr Mills?

Still no sign of it out in this neck of the woods though............I'll have to revert to the old online shopping soon.........

Cristian and Jamie
Props to a superb piece of work by two of my fav producers..

ya know, it'd be nice if you guys made it over here to the midwest to open some ears to your madness. All this house music around here starts to grate on a guy after awhile and I don't like to be holed up in my studio, or at buddies places just to hear some "proper" audio jams. :-)

peace and beats from Minneapolis..

it's good to hear that at least in one category those won the price, who deserved it. congratulations for that!

btw, the musik und maschine congress was a big shame this year and also most of the nominies (best dj: miss kittin (!!??), rolando, richie hawtin (Zzzzz...), best single: sunglasses at night...what a f**k???...
panel toppics: my worst case and my biggest flop....dj hell is telling an incredible boring story how he lost his dj bag. uuuaaarggghh....

however, this has also been the most disorganized congress I've ever seen. (did someone found the stands upstairs in the gallery?) it looked like a private party instead a record fair.

blablablub....

This is it what electronic music becomes to! making MONEY,MONEY,MONEY & MUCH BLABLA
...its a shame.

..."HASTA LA VICTORIA SIEMPRE"!

mr_chombee
16th July 2002, 22:42
yeah, that's a shame. unfortunately the wrong people have to pay the price. this was definitely not dimitri hegemanns or jeff mills' fault.
I don't wanna spit out the responsible names, but much disrespect to them. however, I think they got blamed enough anyway...

@mr chombee: it sounds like i didn´t miss anything. was in berlin that weekend but all 3 days at the perlon party @ostgut.

17th July 2002, 11:33
congrats, and I gotta say, looking at that list, aside from the Kowalski single winning I think things turned out ok, so all the more reason to be happy about winning this thing. aka mad props!

my review of raw digits in 7 magazine.. ah well, for what it's worth, here it is. couldn't find the review thread but thought you might like to have it for your files anyway:

Super_Collider – ‘Raw Digits’ (Rise Robots Rise)

The second instalment of Cristian Vogel and Jamie Lidell’s magical collaborative project finally arrives - despite the duo now residing half-way across Europe from each other - and once again it puts to shame most of the other music you’re likely to hear this year.
Tracks like ‘Bug Trackin’ require close cerebral attention to sample their true glory: the subtle moods shapeshift around Lidell’s enigmatically beautiful vocals. But others, like ‘Gravity Re-arrangin’, are quite simply low-down, spine tingling soul: sine waves in a smoky room, with the soporific chords jarring pleasantly under the intentionally loose and languorous beats. And then there’s the glitch-factor. Like Head On (the stunning first album) no beat is spliced for the sake of it; no frequency tweaked just for tweaking’s sake. On ‘Soily Soul’, Lidell’s voice morphs into what resembles a radio transmission of a distant female singer, while ‘In the Beams’ blends the mutating self-deconstruction of the beats with some beautiful acoustic licks. Lidell’s late nite voice has never sounded better: outdoing the heights he reached with tracks like ‘Loosen Me Human’ on the first album.
It’s fucked up enough to mess with your head and soulful enough to lock in your heart – their combined musical prowess shining through the whole murky, slinky electronic soup.
This is futuristic robot soul of the highest order – no messin’.

(6 dancing men).

*though they did actually print it as only 5 dancing men... but i submitted it with 6!!

how it the album selling btw? have you got any figures about that yet? hope it's a good seller!

i saw it standing around on cd various times, but i didn't really see it in any dj-charts so much.

maybe it's too unique to fit in all those djs sets? a narrow-minded audience?

Lady E
7th August 2002, 13:16
i dont think its really a record for DJs though is it?
its doing ok. there's always room for improvement!

wheezer
7th August 2002, 17:53
well depends what you spin doesn't it? I could imagine that it'd do well in a nice chill-out/more listening oriented setting, although I'd be surprised if the likes of sven väth or jeff mills would start caning it...

Tomoki
7th August 2002, 18:43
Yes, it’s perfect for the chill-out room or the early morning when the sun comes out
.
But why not Sven? I’ve heard a set from him a few weeks ago where he played very, very relaxing sounds.
Super_Collider isn’t a thing for Jeff I think.

pretty funny that you all brang that subject up, because i actually had a discussion with sven on super_collider, and you may find it hard to swallow , but he knew SC very well, liked the HEAD_ON & was looking forward to Raw Digits.. and this discussion was before the initial release. he very fond of all of cristian's work, actually. and he also keeps enuff records to play some ambient stuff set in his boxes.
i found it super hard to believe myself, but he is also a Huge warp / skam / BOC fan and keep a shitload of it with him on the road.. apparently most asian ( thailand etc. ) sets blend into sunrise, so he probabaly spin a couple of hours of chill as well.

p.s. ( before i get the shit thrown at me )
i aint ass-licking here & i myself am almost totally against what a man like that stands for in a scene...
he may be a crowd pleaser corporate deejay superstar..but it doesnt directly make him an ignorant fuck, music wise

and 2 me, germany would be also be 10 years back music wise if it want for him and his omen days... if they would have ever heard any techno at all it is...

its no surprise to us.

sven vath has always supported the music

so does this mean that super collider will win a grammy??
I mean if the baha men can win one for "who let the dogs out?"
then why not jamie and cristian??

Sven Väth features NF-related releases every now and then in his top ten in Groove magazine.
