Ive been moaning that I havent seen a copy in Glasgow..elsewhere on the board someone says you can get it direct from tresor...sure it will be good...Ive seen Dave loads of times and he's provided me and my pals with some great music over the years his mixes make me smile as well as dance ...all power to his elbow...check out his new 12" (missle 51) with Lars sandberg..fanastically deep...

i´m a big fan of tarrida and i heard some live-sets where he went f.. crazy.so i was really lookin´forward to hear the globus mix, but i must say i was... ehhh...sorry to say that...disappointed.i mean the most tracks are really great, brighton forever!!!, but the few old-school rave tracks destroy the whole set! thats my opinion..i hate it when i have a reall good cd with a few "mistakes" in it, so that i can hardly hear the whole cd!

sorry dave,don´t take it personally...

i´d really like to hear some other opinions about that

i really like this mix, and i also like oldschool rave tracks!
but it's always a matter of taste. i think it's a good choice of
various styles on this cd and it shows what dave usually is playing.
THANK YOU DAVE! lol

I really like the mix but I too am unsure about the 'old skool rave' tracks towards the end. Are they from the early 90's and he's included them because they're good or have they been made recently???

I hope they haven't been made recently, cos they sound like exactly what I was dancing to in 1992, and the whole point of 'techno' is to keep moving forward and trying different things.

I wonder if we're gonna have an early 90's techno revival just like the one that's happening with electro ???

Still the main point is are they good tracks or not... and they are.

And for anal twats like me to stop thinking so much about it.

Nice one Dave, great mix....... and when can you play in Liverpool ????

Got the CD....Its not going to be everyones cup of tea, I like the occasionally ravy track as well the black ops one is new but uses some familoiar samples ..it improves with listening especially if you're not familiar with Dave's sets..one of the nice things about HIS sets is that they are'nt obvious IE he doesnt give you the up bit when you expect it , I like this aspect but I know that some people expect hands in the air stuff every two minutes on cue and dont like to kept waiting..I do however..anyone expecting a bangin straight ahead set will be disappointed, but Im preety bored with bangin straight ahead sets...

Fun ?

In 'techno' ?

Never.

yeh techno basically demands bald-headed thick-brimmed chin-stroking doesn't it? :)

I think there is definitely a oldskool rave / acid revival on the horizon, personally I think marcin czubalas body popping ep for intance makes some stronge oldskool rave references, as does the usual suspects double ep.

could somebody post the tracklisting for the tarrida mix btw?

There's a couple of wicked tracks on there from that Usual Suspects compilation on Sativae. And I for one am sick of hearing how good it is from everyone who's bought it on vinyl and I can't get it on cd.

Mr Tarrida said it would be released on cd as a mix of some sort but I can't remember when ??

Sorry, didn´t want to make anybody angry..maybe i was a little too hard with dave tarrida.when i wrote the first statement i´d just heard the cd a couple of times, and i just did not expect this sound .i must say now i got used to it, and i kind of like them now..the rest of the cd is amazing anyway!

but we really don´t need a rave-revival,do we?

have fun!:)

i like the way he combined the tracks, but not all the time the tracks itself.
but the 12 inch is great, am i right that the voice is taken by Jamie?
i mean it realy souds like it is.
i mean since Dave went to Barcelona, you can hear a warmer atmosphere in his tracks, i like them more than the old rough sativae ones.

to Magnumforce: i remember that someone has told me about turn down the licsence for some tracks he wanted to mix in, but i cant remeber who said it to me.
hm i´ll think about.

cheers prof.

i like the mix a lot.
great tracklist and good mixes.
good there is at least some more good stuff available on cddddd.
why isn't there more stuff like this going on ?
and about the "ravey" tunes, dave allways plays some of them in his sets and i must say i like to hear em (they allways fit).

@magnumforce:
what do you mean with "not the image they were looking for" ?

I stumbled on this thread by coincidence, but what a nice surprise. I used to go to Sativa in edinburgh religiously, 'back in the day,' in fact it was the first club I ever really went to; now I'm down in Brighton, 10 years later, and it seems things have gone a bit downhill. Even the good clubs empty out before the end and there doesn't seem to be much exciting music around. As for techno, forget it.

So i'm curious to know where you can find this sort of music (either on vinyl/cd or in clubs)?
How do you get hold of sativae releases - specifically the compilation mentioned?
Where is the techno underground?!

I want to get back that buzz i got when I heard repetitive beats in the beginning; its beginning to get me down...

I'm very keen to get my hands on Dave Tarrida Globus mix CD. I didn't even know that he'd done one. It sounds like the kinda thing I'd love.

I may have to order it online if I can't find it in Brisbane (Australia).
