What clubs do you go to that has non contact dancing? Whenever I go out I'm always get nudged in the ribs or elbowed in the face. I'm not terribly keen on physical contact anyway so I'm happy not to dance with it. Small doses and all that.
face cheeks or ass cheeks
of course
for some its all the same

I had to learn 22 dances for school, waltzes, foxtrots, squaredances, tangos and all that shit. It's a totally inescapble tradition here that all 11th grade students must learn these dances, dress up really nice and perform them all for your parents, then the next day for the whole of frigging helsinki as all the 11th grade school classes meet in a large ice hockey stadium and redo the routine on national television.
I'm really happy I've gotten it over with to be honest.

in scotland we have ceilidhs. men use centrifugal force to assault women by hurling them across the room. it's very energetic and quite fun when combined with lots of whisky. you get to shout 'heeeyoooch!' while you do it too.

I went to ceilidhs when I was a kid and loved them.
However, the erection section at school discos was an awkward, embarassing, humiliating affair for most people, so I am not keen to go back to those days - though it was a thrill when you finally got a dance - it was Phyllis Nelson's Move Closer that they always seemed to play in these moments

scotish counrty dancing (ceilidhs ) were loads of fun...
wat i liked was that all age groups danced together...
one minute youd be hurling your granny around the dance floor in the dashing white sargent...then youd be doing a slow gay gordons with your misses...
a whole familly event..
cant imagine moshing it to techno with any of my familly members?!
surely you have loads of 'ballroom' dancing in blackpool emef??
get down !!

who are "they" anyway? emef, as a ballroom performer who also happens to partake of some mic action, it's your responsibility to encourage the crowd to embrace a partner and get close. Less "move your fucking body!!!!!!!!!" and more "aaah, there now, isn't that nice?".

maybe so, but ceilidhs are scottish. next you'll be saying the irish invented whisky.
the meaning of it has changed somewhat tho. originally it meant that a load of crofters got together in a hebridean blackhouse to sing songs and tell stories. or is that not 'real' enough for you? are you saying hebridean gaels don't speak 'real gaelic' too?

my favourite of this sort of argument was last year on overload when there was some discussion as to what 4/4 was.
the answers went into 3 pages, is electro 4/4 or just techno? is it the same as 4 to the floor? blah blah blah
this is a perfect example of the message board stuff i was talking about a couple of days ago .
i commented about dancing and now you`re arguing about how to spell
ceilidhs/ céilis... and who invented it 4/4... 4 to the floor... perfect lol lol

ah but the semantic point was only tomfoolery - i also provided a historic fact which is not very well known about the original meaning of ceilidh. the other great thing about the internet is that you learn useless facts.
