...my local vinyl dealer just selling schranz&TRANCE!!!So I don´t like schranz. BUT I CAN NOT UNDERSTAND HOW PEOPLE DO LISTEN TO THAT KIND OF MUSIC! I mean trance. It´s making me sick and a kind of fury when I hear that düüüüüdülüüüdü sounds. I think ca. 70% of young people(Bauern) in my f****** town are listen to that laaallaalallaaaaah sh**!Its making me sad.

So please tell me peops, what is it all about?
Is it just a cash money blinkblink thing...
...a shortage/defect of intelligence...
...or is there a deeper idea? Tell me your opinion, maybe I will understand!

greetz from "trance town"

aleks

it might be boring, but it is not annoying like trance is...i would rather listen to some hard and boring techno for 10 hours than 10 seconds of fascist trance.

i think people like trance because it's easy to understand - this bit is where you put your hands in the air - this bit is where you cheer - this bit is where you dance like a twat.. and it's 'happy'. and it has tunes you can whistle - try whistling a neil landstrumm bassline - and vocals you can recognise.

same reasons why they like fatboy slim and moby in otherwords.

Trance the stuff made from every wasted moment in people's everyday lives. No-one actually makes it. It just simply comes about as a bi-product of video-recording a soap opera, waiting for a kebab, or practising air-hockey.
Each of these, and many other billions of pointless occurrences, contribute to make one piercing synth riff, one snare-roll build-up or an uplifting vocal, in the ether of glowing stick-men where dreams come true.

I used to love old trance, but then I just labelled it under the 'techno' umbrella.

As in all the old Eye Q, Harthouse, Vath stuff along with all the music I was hearing at raves/clubs like Megadog at the time.....

And a really cheesy track but one that takes the roof of a club is by the cheesemeisters Jam & Spoon and the track is "Follow Me".

Played it the other week just for the hell of it, and it still fucking rocks.

@bitch one:
...do they listen to trance in tokyo to? Oh my goodness...its an epidemic! WE need a remedy...

I think theres a lot of good trance out in the area of 92-95. For example Virtual Symmetrie, Vernons Wonderland, Barbarella... that many Eye Q stuff. Or the World Order remix by Paul van Dyk, Meltdown (or how its called) by Lunatic Asylum and Renegade Legion on Fnac! That are absolutely great records in my ears :)
The music called Trance today is crap! Just off -beat orientated dull music. Cannot compare Trance and that "Trance" of today in my eyes.

trance is tangible. it is a form of music that you don't need any education in to get.
when I first started to listen to techno I didn't like it all that much. after a while of getting educated and understanding where it all came from and who did what I began to understand it and I learned how to listen to it. now I can't imagine going a day without listening to some type of techno or another. trance is the exact opposite. it is techno for dummies plain and simple. formulaic and predictable. ble blah blah.

Talking about Trance, I ended up meeting a German couple in Ibiza last year and they were trying to get us to go to see some DJ called Talla or summat .... is that the Trance that we're slagging off ??

The night was called Technoclub though .....

be happy you didn't visit the party with talla 2xlc.........playing only shit music.....don't know if he plays only trance but i think so.

Tomoki

Yes, Mr. Talla 2 xlc234565 plays only fucking Trance music. I listened to him one day in 1997 or so. His Techno club-Compilations are the worst piece of shit of all time. He only makes two Cds; they were called like Talla vs. some other crap trance dj. The newest one is called: talla versus his own challenge.
I saw it recently at an advertising pillar.

I am very lucky that I only heard trance a couple of times in my life

Er I think its a bit unfair to say Old Skool is a moron, because he dosent like night of the jaguar..I think its pretty cheesy personally and not even in a funny way..used to be a bit into trance before I discovered TEST in Glasgow..cant really listen to it (trance)anymore..as far as hard loopy repetitive techno is concerned I find it just as depressing and unlistenable..Neil Landstrumm described it as "Industrial trance" which I think was a canny characterisation...Im just getting fusier and fusier as I get older...Ive got a lot of respect for Blue Peter even if he aint exactly trance, and I heard a Mauro Picotto mix I quite lliked people can label others too easily...

talla xyz used to push excellent music back in the 80s with the "techno club" frankfurt airport, european centre of EBM. he even did 1 or 2 decent records himself, one featuring the singer of front 242. but then techno came and he took the wrong train.

Tomoki
14th July 2002, 16:16
Mr. Talla did some collaboration with Zip (Dimbiman) and Markus Nikolai from the now known Perlon label as Bigod 20 in the late 80ies I guess. They were very popular in the States.

Do you Know, if they made more tracks then "the bog"?
Thos is the only song of begod 20 i know.
I have it on a Talla 2xyz - techno-compilation. :)

But if you do, I founded some tracks on kazaa!
maybe it will help...

I can not imagine that this kind of music is the product of markus nikolai&dimbiman(bigot20).
Is it true? No...

Tomoki
15th July 2002, 14:52
It is true

look, here´s the proof

interesting news - i always find it interesting to find out what people from those days are doing.

of course "the bog" was bigod 20's best track ever. anyone know the video clip ? lol

umo detic was also a popular project in this frankfurt techno scene (when techno was ebm or "aggrepo"), with "kampf der welten" he caused a wave of quite stupid releases, all featuring a techno/ebm-beat with some endless voice samples telling us sci-fi stories...

talla also had his now bankrupt label Zoth Ommog. there was some ok stuff among the early releases, like X Marks The Pedwalk of the danish Leather Strip.

it was the time when the Frontpage mag was only featuring stuff like this, it came from frankfurt too and was part of this whole thing.

Why is it that so many old industrial and ebm - musicians have degenerated so badly? I kind of know we had this discussion once, but it always amazes me. Glad some of them have left the sinking ship before it was too late.

you're welcome. but where i'm coming from: i really don't like to see unexplained criticisms of techno-music. my calling you a moron was also unexplained so i'm guilty 2. but i wonder if you would say the same thing to the artist himself? calling a fatboy slim party "wank" i can understand. but UR is a label that a lot of people respect and consider an important catalyst for change.

so why is it "wank"? please explain and i'll quit with the unqualified insults. i just prefer a little more involved dialogue.

old skool
16th July 2002, 08:36
Aah o.k, perhaps 'wank' was a little bit harsh. I just thought the track was a little wet and a little bit cheesy with all the lovely detroit strings going off. It didn't seem to have the edge that a lot of the other UR releases have had before that. Also overkill played a big part. Anyone and everyone seemed to be playing it and I'm talking really really commercial DJ's over here in the UK that had nothing to do with techno in the past. So if someone doesn't like a record when it's first played, odds on he's gonna hate it after hearing it every day for about 6 months.

16th July 2002, 08:40
Oh and regarding calling a Fatboy Slim party being wank. I don't play Fatboy Slim records, don't buy Fatboy Slim records and don't go to a club to see him. But he entertained me a helluva lot more than Richie Hawtin did in Creamfields a couple of years ago. Ah well ....

Mercedez Ben

i probably heard the track played out half a dozen times or so. techno is dead here, in a sense. gets virtually no play at major venues (see old posts about the chicago scene).

i must say that i like the track though. i have an affinity for some of the myan/aztec mysticism stuff for one and i can tolerate a certain level of cheese if the mood's right too.

and yeah, richie usually bores me in recent years. and i can't speak on fatboy slim as an entertainer so i'll reserve my insults for his music and fascist commercial leanings.

Knights of the jaguar is by far not the first cheesy Detroit track at all, although I must say that I like to hear it when played in a mix. Anyone remember "Jazz is the teacher" by Model 500, Moritz v. Oswald & Thomas Fehlmann? Or some of the early Atkins stuff anyway? And "Jazz is the teacher" is probably one of my all-time favourites in techno, although I don't even know it for such a long time.

i said it before and i say it again.... everything with a Hard ass dist is good.. aslong as you can hear the diffrens between the basdrum and the clap you be alright.... and if ýou can hear some blip blop sound it´s probably some juckie trance shit... if not than it´s superb.

thank you and good night !

OH MY GOD! You are damn right, BIGOT 20 is a collaboration of M.Nikolai, ZIP and Talla!!!
