What good stuff is going on this summer? I know there was that thing outside Reading that looked pretty mental, and there's Big Chill and SONAR... but I'm sure I'm forgetting something really good... Triptych's already happened but are there any more of those multi-venue city-based festival efforts happening in the next few months?

cris is playing at a festival in the oxfordshire countryside called truckstop
i wish i could be going but im going to a wedding that weekend...
here's their info:
Truck Festival 2004, Hill Farm, Steventon, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom.
July 24th-25th 2004
Born in 1998 at Hill Farm in Steventon, near Abingdon, Oxfordshire Truck
Festival is now in its 7th year. It is still organized by a variety of local
villagers, the people behind Truck Records and the band Goldrush, with
support from promoters The Club That Cannot Be Named and Vinyl Frontier/
Depth Charge.
Truck has grown considerably from its humble beginnings - the Hill Farm site
now has a capacity of 3000 - and carries a reputation of being one of the
UK's most musically eclectic festivals while at the same time raising over
£20,000 for both local and national charities.
Unlike all other festivals the food is cheap (and served up with a friendly
smile from the local Rotary Club), the beer (cheap, also) is poured by two
high rolling loons and assorted mates (dressed of course as ladies). And
naturally (this is the country) the real ale from the codgers bar is the
finest around, or if it's ice cream you’re after, why not talk to the local
vicar, who's flogging ices, in aid of his church light fund.
Most of Truck’s 3000 visitors are young music lovers, with a passion for
diverse, local, mainstream and anti-mainstream music. But they also
encompass everyone from babies to OAPs, taking in all sorts of assorted
junglists, metallers, indie kids, musos, A types, and other weirdos.
Last year's Truck hosted the following acts that played over two days on the
four stages (Trailerpark, Acoustic, Main, and Barn).
Goldrush & Mark Gardener (Ride), British Seapower, Buck 65, Electric Eel
Shock, Electric Soft Parade, Broken Family Band, Black Nielson, Laura Veirs,
Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter, Butterflies of Love, Fonda 500, KTB
(full band), Meanwhile Back In Communist Russia, Psychid, Finlay, Vera
Cruise, Dive Dive, Misty’s Big Adventures, Chris T-T, MASS, Byrne, Magoo,
Winnebago Deal, Tracking Farrago, Saloon, The Keys, Vic 20, Lew's Tunes &
Nobsta Nuts, Voltan Kodaly School For Girls, Whitmore, Goatboy, Cutlass
Supreme, Ollie Double O, Debasser Tony Vegas and Plus One (Scratch
Perverts), Blunt Instruments, Taskforce, DJ Fu.

What kind of .. umm.. "vibe" exists in these festivales? Are they capitalist ventures, with corporate sponsership and commodification at every turn (most US festvals - like lollapalooza, warp tour (http://www.warpedtour.com/index2.html), etc - where you you pay $100-$150 and then keep paying through the nose whilst sitting on a blanket listening to bands) or are they free zones of autonomy, like the US Burningman Festival or other free art experiments that go on in the west coast (where you bring a tent and BECOME part of the experience, not simply spoon fed marketing )?
In otherwords, is there anything going on that somebody should fly from oregon to check out?
