why, whenever there is a new euro-trance number on top of the pops, do they have some asshole on a set of turntables pretending hes djing? they do the same for 'hip-hop' and have the dj pretending hes scratching, even when there's no audible scratching sound?

i know that this is all just for the stage show, but it fuckin pisses me off. always has.
rant over.:)

I liked that nonsense hard house song they had on TOTP today. In amidst all the overblown ballads and wanky R&B piffle, it was refreshingly unpretentiously moronic.

yeeaaahhhhh, course it was :D

i like that beyonce track, aside from the tragic grown woman singing about being a naughty girl bobbins

It's OK but it takes me back to when I saw her live last year - the most dreary dismal bollocks you can imagine.

hehe you went to see her live in concert??
i just happened to catch her on totp and quite liked her record
but you took the time out to go to her concert.
did you have to go cos your daughter wanted to see her or do you have a single gay friend that didn`t want to look silly on their own at the gig?
chortle chortle ;)

similar thing: early Jason Donovan video, where he's prancing around in the lovely green hills singing his song....playing an electric guitar, miles away from the nearest power.......for a song with no guitar in it. Genius.

I remember a couple of years ago, some dance song, they had two guys on opposite ends of the stage sitting in front of iMacs wiggling the mice around a bit.

Top of the Pops is shit now. I still think the only music programme worth looking at is Later... with Jools Holland. Highly variable, but that's one of it's charms, and you sometimes get some real blinders on there.

totp is such a crap...

but the 'best' performance i've ever seen was one by nirvana (what else?! :))
Kurt sang "smeels like teen spirit" like a priest during a homily and swallowed the mic during the chorus... furthermore they played a really bad playback (spun their instruments, threw them away etc)

had a lot of fun to watch it lol

I was there for work. Though actually when they sent me I was quite looking forward to it, being quite a Destinys fan, and really liking Crazy In Love and Baby Boy... Sadly it was plodding MOR soul drivel for the most part. Sad as fuck as the audience was 90% little girls who just wanted pumped-up empowered pop songs over hip hop beats. They were all really nonplussed and bored by most of it. We knew it was all over when they brought out THE STOOL for her.

TOTP is so, so bad now. That cunt Tim Kash clearly only got the presenter's job by sucking Andi Peters' cock A Lot. Whether or not you like pop, it's easy to see there are right and wrong ways of doing a show. See CD:UK - it's fucking great. It's all about the crowd, who seem genuinely hyped up and loving it, and they make a real effort to get variation on there (The Zutons last week, dammit!), plus Cat Deely is obviously an actual pop fan and not just a stupid fucking careerist empty-eyed metrosexual clone muppit cunt. Twas ace seeing her and Jamelia having a Brummie girls' giggle last week.

i saw a little bit of top of the flops today, too... i think every "connected" country has his own tops and moderators / entertainers for the show...
it's totally funny to see some idiots dancing, jumping and walk on the stage like a ape... even the playback is so bad, that a blind man could see the difference between the voice and the reality... i bet, you could put the cd into your player at the same time, and every word is similar, and at the end it was exactly the same time they play...
back to the original problem, the guy with the players, the wannabe-dj... i saw such idiots a few times in the tv. not today, but enough... last summer i saw a "mallorca hits 2003" or so on rtl2 on some evening. totally scrap, you must purge when you hear such a stuff... the funny thing between drunken dancers, childs and seniors, was one of these wanna-be-djs... hehe he played sooo bad... a typical trance-dj, with a microphone to shout in and a face to hit... and the best thing was... he played a DJAX-Record!!! (yes, you read right... a djax-record... i saw it in one second when the camera was above his players... the typical djax-print... but the shit who was playing was some trance-shit... absolutely not the track on the deck... ok, as i saw him play, i was sure that this guy is so bad, that he couldn't clean his ass himself. but he was really so stupid playing a djax-record...

that was when he had a really bad sore throat and they insisted on them singing live.

i havent watched TOTP since they moved it from thursday night and it clashed with corrie.

i used to LOVE it though - when they had things you liked on it was just mind blowing - anything vaguely alternative...i used to believe that i would watch it forever.

Ouch!!!!

...I don't know if he's still on MTV or not (I don't have it anymore), but he used to host MTV News, and then he had a little slot on TRL when it was launched in the UK last summer (D_G confession - a friend of mine got tickets to one of the TRL things, and we ended up in the studio, stood next to Liberty X.....)

He can come across as a tad annoying I suppose :)

the current girl presenter on totp can't keep her accent consistent, which is a little bit irritating.
listening to the top 40 show on radio 1 yesterday with that little mup 'wes' (so hyperkillable he puts the boy presenter on totp in a good light), there were only a few i had to miss in the charts, mainly the drivelly ballad type of things like the blue number. i was rockin to rasmus. and isn't that no. 1 a strange hybrid?

It does gut me how bad it's become though; moving it from Thursday to Friday night was wrong enough, but now it's just painful. It ruins all the happy memories I have of being a kid and getting well excited every Thursday - me, my mum and brother would crowd around the TV, cups of tea at the ready, to enjoy our weekly dose of pop music, and would shout along with the Top 40 countdown "Good!" "Rubbish!" "Terrible!" etc. as the song demanded. Why, the endless weeks of waiting to see whether someone had knocked Joe Dolce off the top spot were like an army campaign - the camaraderie! The anticipation! The inevitable disappointment and ensuing torture!

Tim Kash and Wes - surely refugees from the same abortion bucket.
