Glad to see some heads turning on this stuff,

Hefty is here in Chicago, and has been tapping into lots of cool abstract stuff with their releases, putting out a range of stuff from IDM to glitchy hip-hop, to electronic/indie-rock hybrid, to melodic techno work. They have also started some US distribution for Stewart Walker's Persona label and may be doing more distribution for other labels in the future. Hefty's output is pretty broad so you may not be into all of it, but definitely keep an eye on them as they've been tapping some definite talent.

Scott Herren has been doing some great stuff under his various names. Keep an eye on his Eastern Developments label too- recently released an LP by Dabrye- aka Tad Mullnix from Ann Arbor, MI. Tad has been working with the Ghostly International Label in Ann Arbor, also under multiple alias'. The Dabrye album is nice stuff- laid back instrumental hip hop, but with and idm style production.
