I'm home visiting my Dad and step-Mom in Columbus Ohio so I'm inspired to give a little representation to the hometown crew here. It's relatively small to a Chicago or New York or Detroit (at least in terms of reputation) but has some big big talent. The city doesn't get nearly enough recognition so here I go:

Charles Noel aka Archetype and Mononchrome (21/22 Corporation, Glyph, Black Nation, Ongaku, Public Transit etc.)

Todd Sines aka Xtrak and Cron (Contact, Peacefrog, Residual, 21/22, Background etc etc etc)

Titonton Duvante (Star BB, Multiplex, Metamorphic, 21/22, Residual, 2000 Black, Planet E, Reflective, SSR)

Others (but certainly not all) who have made significant contributions:

DJ Rob Rage-one of the baddest motherfuckin' DJs around. has been a DJ for over 15 years! Premier international talent. Has played from coast to coast with most.

Stephen Hindman aka Kingsize-original C-town junglist (Liquid Sky, Blue Note, ESP-SUN Records)

Jeff Samuel [i fucked this up the first time by putting geoff white] (7th city, Malek, Remains)

The list goes on but I'll stop there. If you're interested to learn a little more, check out www.elemental.org - It's a pretty biased account of the history and the city's players (eg Rob Rage was politically blackballed and "written out" despite his pioneering contributions) but full of interesting bits. The city has been hemoraging talent for years but is nevertheless a reference point for many true heads.

Here's to Roots Muzik!
