I just found out about this board and I'm looking forward to some interesting/entertaining threads. Seems better than the local garbage here in Chicago. May I just say that I love this city very much but it's quite backwards when it comes to techno. Ex: We had a Perlon show here about three weeks ago and maybe 150 people out of 500 capacity showed up on a Friday night. Very sad for such a huge cultural center.
Hope is far from lost, however. A newly formed production company/booking agency, obS/EAR, is looking to stear things in an exciting and different direction. I play for these MFs and I like to get freaky on the 1s, 2s, and 3s. Vogel and Landstrum were a huge inspiration when I began.
I'll shut the fuk up now.
Lots of Love

Who played at the Perlon-Night? Dimbiman, Zip, Markus Nikolai?
We have a Perlon-Night every two months here in Frankfurt and it is very good.
It´s sad to read that Chicago isn´t that good in the nightlife.
So many good music comes from Chicago and no good nightlife:illin:

it was dimbiman and baby ford. excellent show and both real stand-up guys. hopefully things will change. i just have to keep reminding myself that although it's chicago, it's still the midwest.
yeah, peezee, even better than pure ;) i'm through with it. i just used it to entertain myself but found i was the only one with such a sick sense of humor. not that that piece of crap properly reprazentz chicago i might add.

Actually a big part of the economy here seems to be nightlife, theres thousands of restaurants and bars, and quite a few clubs and music venues as well. It's mostly just suffering when it comes to techno. Most of the bigger clubs play cheesy club crap, progressive, and the obligitory house music. And the more underground stuff is also kinda house dominant although theres plenty of techno dn'b and idm stuff going on as well. but I'm thinking/hoping this might be changing soon as there are plenty of local technophiles aware of the problem and working to change the scene.

Yes indeed. The nightlife is huge here but very very commercial. There are occasionally some special events and/or low profile events on the abstract/underground tip but they're rare.
shameless self-promotion:
Next month I'm opening for Stewart Walker at the Empty Bottle, Thursday, July 25.

i'm enjoying this board already more than the local jibber-jabber. it's also nice to be in touch with your neck of the globe and the techno community you share. always nice to get a new flavor after so much of the same...so, i don't travel enough.
