Becoming a jerk with time and familiarity, why is this? Why is the constant progression of famous people always result in cocky "I know everything" type of personality? Well not all people are like this but the ones that think they are the shit and deserve recognition on a glory level, certainly do this with an almost nature born way.
I recently had some encounters with some semi famous people and they are totally full of themselves to a degree of their own personality is lost, just a guest book of "please sign here and donate your praise". why is this?
Has anybody actually evaluated the digression of respect when someone famous acts like this?
Basically my point is that when someone is a fucking stuck up jerk that takes a pleasure in abusing there clout to put someone else down and at the same time telling someone else not to take pleasure in someone else pain, I get pretty pissed. Almost enough to start a boycott.
Like for example, I work a local music shop and we have a weekly night on saturdays, that offers avant jazz and other odd avenues of hip-hop and what not, but the thing is, since this night is going so well and we are getting interviewed by local alternative magazines, there is one person in our group that is shoving all others to the side to get the center of the spot light.
Last night all of us that were watching this guy take all the press and never even mentioning that he is a guest and that we started the night and he is simply a invitation and nothing more. I mean we dont really care about all this press and praise, we just care about keeping the night as less wack as possible.
But this also brings to the point, the coming of a new age, old stars always fade out and new stars come in. Its how it has always been and always will be. And the "old school" always talks down to the new school, and the new always have a sibling relationship with his predecessor.
But there has been some defining genre's or movements in music that defies all of this. Like punk for instance, now I didn't grow up in the midst off it, but my impression of it was accurate I think. punks whole essence was about playing and being and living the way you want to. And always having nothing to do with self praise and ego based expression.
So do you support and and pay homage to these people that are living off of there own egotistical land-mines which they soak all there energy from?
And what do you think the best way to handle this type of person is?
Do you act humble and passively give them what they want?
Or do you protest and fight back with a noble vengeance to knock them down off their pedestal? Which you know they will act back , and use all their power to stop you from protesting anymore.
This is just something i have been observing for sometime, which I thought all of you might have an opinion on.
