liddelllo is the best! i saw him solo and S_C live and those are surely in my top 3 best live act ever seen. Jamie alone is something u nmissable - and the SuCo are truly the most innovative stuff i've ever had the chance to see... and i'm starving out to listen to something new from them - i know i'll have to wait VERY long tho - by the way if you live in Austr. GO THERE!

Result. First real electronic music outing since setting up in Melbourne. Anyone local know of any regular good music clubs going on in the city. Techno, electro etc.

Heya Shandy, the Melbourne forums @ the inthemix website usually sees a bit of promo action on the tech/electro/minimal front. Check it here (http://www.inthemix.com.au/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=2)

The Meccanoid electro parties are always killer, and a newish crew called Deep Chord chase the dubby, Cologne tip.

EMMA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Gorgeous. Yes I know where the venue is so you can stand at ease on the organising Alder front. Apparently it's cheap as chips to get in so if you haven't been in touch with Jamie it doesn't matter too much. He'll cack his pants when he sees me and my bag of rotten fruit at the front of the crowd. ha ha ha

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you pair can make it out here to. It's bloody lovely.

Say hi to Ed for me.

Thanks for the tips Matt. I'll check out the forum and keep my eye out for those parties you mentioned.

You need to check out CLUB FILTER @The Lounge, 243 Swanston St., Melbourne , Wednesday nights
Oldest Techno club in da country
I think it has been going every week for the last 12 or 13 years

Sydney has AFX/Vibert/Basement Jaxx/Felix Da Housecat/David Holmes/Dj Afrika Bambaattaa/Cherry2000

i fink filter has even ended these days... teriaki, anarki, saki is a melb techno institution ( they still have parties sporadikally)... its seems melbourne's days of being a HUGE techno city have ended, tho there seems to be sum new crews and interest snowballing as tha rest of tha dance scene turns to shit....also check out - http://www.yeahfuckyeah.com/ a techno (if a little wanky and sceney) forum, but it should list most technoey fings that are goin on!!!

enjoy melb - its soo beautiful at tha mome!!

Teriyaki is the shit... every Thursday night @ the Hi-Fi three years ago, at least 800-1000 peeps, madness! So many memories :)
Cristian played there in 96/97 which was a killer night, and Berkovi just nailed their Xmas party late 2003. One of the few forward thinking crews in a town littered with tribal techno bullshit.

Dave Pham is another guy you can check quite frequently around Melbourne - Venetian Snares, V/VM, Kid606, Forshaw is his bread and butter... often in the middle of his tearin' techno sets.

weweeeell...that kicked fucking arse.
Jim went off.....really top notch shit, he could have played for 4 hours and I still would have wanted more.
Had a brief word to him and he seemed like a bloody nice bloke too.
I dragged a friend there and he only really likes rock music but he was blown away too....
He played some tracks I hadn't heard before...is he workin on a new album?

CV
25th January 2004, 14:32
its rumoured that he has finally started something that might be a new album - he doesn't really talk much about what he's up to in the studio , but I have a suspicion that he is working on stuff...

Hi Emma. I didn't actually manage to slip any slabs in my backpack. They might have been a bit heavy. I did leave a box of stuff ready to send over though should the occassion present itself. Apart from the Teriaki xmas party though, me and Tracey haven't been to any techno happenings. It seems pretty hard to track them down and Teriaki seems to be only doing things occassionaly.

However I landed a job yesterday so it looks like me and the Alder can stay here for a good bit longer. I just need to sort out our visas and then I might look into seeing if we can organise something out here. Maybe get the TEST/NO-Future crew to come and bomb Melbourne.

namshub

The No-Future Melbourne co-op is gaining strength... :-p

Seriously though, Jamie's set on Friday was wonderful, only let down by a below average venue with terrible sound (at least for the sorta frequencies JL is hitting at). Hows the chance of a Super_collider Oz tour with the added bonus of a Vogel DJ set? I can speak to the Teriyaki boys who'd be more than keen for a piece of that....

Lady E
29th January 2004, 09:47
super_collider would be expensive. 5 people to oz...thats an eye watering amount of money to start with. we dont know if the band are gonna play again but if they do i know they would LOVE to play in australia again. i think their first ever gig outside the UK was at the indian summer festival in perth late 1998/ early 1999.
