My Mum has some of his Stand-Up routines he released on Vinyl YEARS ago - always give me and my sister a rude laugh when we listen to it.

Early Eddie Murphy is wicked too.

i saw him make a total tit of himself at T in the park last year, drunk off his welsh tits and giving the bbc producers minor heart attacks by falling over and cutting his face open, whilst trying to roller skate back to his room. amazingly he was on top form the next day when they started filming.

HARRY HILL is my god... the way he constructs his own ridiculous world and then procedes to romp around in it is genius... his standup is class
I also have a top top Steve Martin Video from 1979 (i think) where he wears a white suit, plays the banjo (very well) , and clowns around relentlessly proving that he is a "wwild and craaiizy guy." This is my favourite ever standup set

Billy Connoly back in the day was a true artist of standup.

I actually do like harry hill - his stand up is different to his TV shows as it has insane structure and he will build all the running jokes up through the thing then tie them together at the end brilliantly.

I tell you who I can't fucking stand - Al Murray The Pub Landlord. OK, a few good gags, but 99% of it is exactly the sort of out-and-out racist nastiness it claims to be taking the piss out of. He always says it's like Alf Garnett - BOLLOCKS is it. Alf Garnett had a cast of characters around him to make him look a twat. Murray doesn't make the character look dumb, not at all - he makes him look very clever in fact... e.g. reeling off all the lists of people britain has beaten in wars. He's not a pisstake of jingoism and prejudice, it's dumb fucking playing to the thugs' gallery of the worst sort. Cunt.

Roy Chubby Brown (real name Royston Vasey, comedy geeks) might be offensive, but like Jerry Sadowitz he makes up for it by hating EVERYBODY. And he does have some really good lines, and serious guts.

When he played in Cleveland just after the major child abuse news story he said "I'm surprised you've turned up - I thought you'd all be at home fucking yer kids".

And when he played in a catholic social club in liverpool, he caught sight of the huge crucifixion statue at the back of the hall and went "oh I see you got the guy who nicked yer video!"

surprised no one has mentioned Eddie Izzard.

Saw him in the absolutely massive Wembley Arena just before Christmas, but still enjoyed myself, didn't stop laughing throughout the entire show. He is a fucking genius, in my book.

League Against Tedium, as afore mentioned, is brilliant, one of my favourite comedy quotes comes from them:

"I never know what to say after sex. 'Thank you' always seems too much, and 'I'm sorry' never enough."

Also, Ed Burn was brilliant when I saw him. He played to about 60 people in a 600 seater venue, and didn't tone his show down at all, so much respect to him.

And possibly my favourite stand up - Stewart Lee. Yes, he performs the same 6 jokes every show he does, but every time I see him, I still laugh my arse off. Plus he's a genuinely nice guy, too.

Got really into going to comedy nights recently as Nottingham has a great little comedy night on sunday nights and finishing of a messy weekend by drinking yourself stupid and laughing your tits off is a great idea in my book.

Saw Ross Noble recently who was funny as fuck and pretty much completely adlib. Reg D. Hunter was really entertaining as well, just a captivating public speaker who I'd happily listen to with out the punchlines. Bill Bailey is dead good, and musical too as he seems to be able to play about every instrument known to man and make it funny at the same time. Mark Thomas is always dead funny but I've not seen him live yet. Ricky Gervais's "Animals" dvd had me in stitches over xmas as well.

Oh and I go with Me?'s suggestion of Emef as well. Definately potential for a career in stand up...

Did you notice how all the divx online seem to be corrupt though? I think he is planting fake ones the devil !

The worst thing about that is that Dudley Moore's dad actually had just died of cancer when Peter Cooke did that. Nasty. But funny.

I also went to wembley to see Izzard but i found it was a little .. erm, well , for example he kept being quite out there and "wacky" but then kept ruining it by stopping and saying things like "WOW.. I`m talking about gorillas choosing dungarees - how wacky am I ?"
The first 3 videos are spot on but sorry eddy, you`ve lost me as a die hard fan.
