if you have to colour your synth orange for people to even consider looking at it, you know you made a shit product. it also has "groove" written on it, which when converted from roland speak to english means "shit". so in essence they made a flashy, orange shitbox.

well... also the old opel turbo looks ugly, but has power...
have you ever used a roland d2 or do you just think its shit couse of the looking?

i think its shit because its a roland groovebox. ever use a 303 or 505? they for the most part suck. if anything, the 505 has some redeeming qualities because of the 8 part midi mixer and a few features along with that.. but roland groovebox sounds are shit. pure shit. unless of course you want to make really cheezy club music. then the box rocks. but most of us want to make respecatble music using respectable sounds. please save yourself the money. I know there aren't many things in that price range for sound sources and sequencing together.. I'd almost recommend using an mmt-8 and a sound module instead of a d2. granted the mmt-8 has little memory, but if you can dump it via sysex, who cares? there are other work arounds to grooveboxes if you just do a little research on the net. i would hate to see someone waste their money.

and yes, i like opels.

sorry if i'm being blunt about all this but i've learned to hate anything that says groove on it... but for good reason.

Stop using toy... use the real thing... nice K-board or sampler...

All the best.

i use a (distorted) mc303 live for some hihats, claps and snares.
it does its work. you just need to know there the good sounds are, and how to use.

but youre right i would never recommend any groovebox to anyone anymore. its just too limited

okay, so i can admit a groovebox can sound decent smeared over by a good distortion pedal...

but they still suck straight-up.

besides, do you want a box with "euro" & "psy-trance" as presets???

who is interested in presets anyway???
