View Full Version : God Save The Queen
I haven't actually heard the remix yet, is it any good? worth spreading my cash on?
Also, funny how Newsnight last night on BBC2 talked about how important the original God Save The Queen was, and then talked to Billy Bragg and some tit out of Chumbawumba, but won't talk to John Lydon, who's rather more important in the whole affair than any of them.
Good interview with him in this month's Mojo, though.

what remix?
There is a Leftfield (or one of them out of Leftfield) remix of Sex Pistol's God Save The Queen, out yesterday.
Apparently it's really good, but no one I know has actually heard it, so I wondered if anyone here has.

Well, I haven't heard it but it would be great if it got in the charts. Apparently one of the leftfield guys is good friends with lydon from way back in the punk days...
I always wonder if she's ever heard the original..."she ain't no human being"
I'm hoping it gets to number one again on Jubilee day. Virgin are really pushing it, so there is a far chance. I might by it, even if it's crap, I've done my bit to bring down the system. Or something.
on a somewhat related note, an aussie dj whatever thingy called groove terminater has done his own version of pil's 'this is not a love song' and it's bloody terrible

that pic looks quite like the mr.beadle....
jeremy beadle has a rather large cock,
......but on the other-hand......
:-p
I bought it a few days ago...it's a fun little squelcher. Tempo is a bit fast for my regular tastes, but I'm sure I'll be able to drop it in certain scenarios.
Bought Hakan Lidbo's "Bad Girls Go To Hell" and i like it even better though.
see what happened? now this would have been the exact moment you would copy and paste into your AG satelitte..
there taking our culture bit by bit!
ps. this is supposed to be the board's track of choice
remember what the pistols chanted?
'No future , no future for you , no future for me.....'
question : could it be there was once a techno track by the prodigy featuring this john lydon on vocals ? or by some other techno act ? perhaps it was a remix too. i think i liked it back then when i heard it on mtv. anyone ?

There was a track. It was called "open up", with Lydon singing things like "Burn Hollywood burn, taking down Tinseltown". Unfortunately I don't remember the producers. I liked it as well.
it was actually leftfield as well on that track, and it was off the leftism album ....

yeah it was wasn't it?
i remember buying a NOW! compilation when i was kid ( i was like 14) for bjork's playdead and there was 'open up' b4 it, and it really really stood out.
i really like the roots manuva track on the latest album, and the artwork was also fabulous
but.. i saw leftfield live at glasto in 2000 and i wasnt that impressed for some reason though..
I really like Original, too. The whole album is great driving music.
hehe.. DRIVING
i use the same word myself for the album.... it exactly what it is
Warning: Do not attempt to drive in 30mph limit zones whilst listening to Radiohead's Idioteque. Sticking to the speed limit just doesn't happen.
i wouldnt really suggest radiohead at all while driving!
love them 2 bitz, but only at cetain moods and time zones!
ps. we called ideo-autechre for some strange reason.
I have some Tom Waits in the car right now.. nicely chilled.
were listening to the new dj shadow & the new speedy j.. both spectacular
the DJ Shadow one good?
I'm thinking of getting that. That and the Mr Scruff album I've had on order for about 6 months.
it excellent. 100% masterpiece with a flaw.. he added a big analouge sound ( kinda like those strings at the end of Air's ' All i Need' .. those huge notes ) into alot of the tracks.. which are in the same hiphopish-downbeat as his usual stuff.
some times it sounds more and more like the UNKLE album then the 'Endtroducing' album.. but u can say it's worth every penny
i really would like to listen to scruff's mix album... really cool cover with the wooden speakers.. ( ed, emma boyfriend did it i think actually, if im right )

yes the mr scruff reggae album was designed by red design - but not ed, there are three designers in red. the designer in question is justin.
fact fans - the cardboard sound system on the front of that was made by andy spradbery who made the island on rescate 137 and the super_collider machine on the new material
actually, it did come to mind that someone down from red is handy with those model thingies... wierd
the cd were talking about is dis:
got The Private Press today
bloody excellent. I love it.
told ya.. that 'walkie talkie' track is spectacular eh?
