The Hon V Knid Esq will be playing crackles and other noises as part of a live set by Disastronaut at St Peters Church, Vauxhall, London tomorrow night. It is a club night hosted by the lovely Simian (sort of Krautrock-Beach Boys hybrid), with Richard H Kirk, Kieran 'Fourtet' Hebden and, um, some other people, with lots of clever visual projections and suchlike.

I think I may have seen the flyer, does it have a cow on it?

Dunno, haven't seen the flyer, but Simian-related things usually have weird hybrid animals on them, e.g. a faun with bat wings and a lamb with a rabbit's head.

i will try and come down if i can a) get someone else to come with me, and b) find my bank account with some money in it, factor b) being the most crucial :)

OK - if you manage to make it, come and say hi; I'll be wearing a suit and stripey shirt.

Well, I'm sad to report that Richard H Kirk was extremely disappointing. He is one of my all-time techno gods for his Sweet Exorcist and Xon work, but the perfect sparseness of those projects was precisely what was lacking from his set last night... He wasn't helped by the enormous reverb of the church venue, but even allowing for that, his set was really sludgy and droney. Fourtet was a bit wanky as well... in fact, only Simian (and Disastronaut, of course) were any fun. Simian played a set from laptops, including a lot of new very funky electroish material, and some excellent re-edits they had made of hiphop and r&b tracks.
