jukka
25th October 2003, 11:51
haha....no not a year, even a year passes very fast.
i just saw an interview with tarrantino (dunno when it was recorded) and he said that just 40% of the 2nd part are finished so far.
he is now getting reactions from the people on part on and he decides now in which direction part two will go on like.
mr_chombee
25th October 2003, 11:56
pt.2 is not finished? so I don't think it will be out in 4 months, do you?

well, despite all that splattering it´s rubbish.that cartoon sequence was a big wank, uma thurman and lucy liu doing all that martial arts stuff looked bloody ridiculous and it was way too long. it bored the shit out of me...

didn't like it - liked the animation tho.too much suspension of disbelief required. kinda matrixy type guff.

pencilneck: do you watch much hong kong movies ?
grobelaar
25th October 2003, 19:52
Quentin Tarantino is an utter tosser... his films are deriviative shite, with the prattle of an immature, overly privelidged gobshite constantly droning over the top...
I'm sure Kill Bill is very entertaining, and I will probably enjoy it, but I can't stand that man, he doesn't even spend one moment, not one moment acknowledging the giants upon whom he stands.
Cunt!
marcel
26th October 2003, 14:47
oh come on grobelaar. pulp fiction was brilliant. not 'only' entertaining. wasnt it?
marcel
26th October 2003, 14:49
oh, i think i missunderstood you.
well, he always tells in interviews, that he only does copy others, so...

No, but I watch a lot of movies. I consider the work of someone say like Takashi Miike and Mamuro Oshii, to be in a different league from quentin 'arseface' tarantino. Just rewatched 'tetsuo-iron man' by Shinya Tsukamoto again, such a good movie, still freaks me out.

I dont like Tarantino films and I think they are incredibly hyped up and over-rated, I did like From Dusk Til Dawn a little bit. I just dont understand the hype surrounding his stuff. There is much better of a simular vein.

they are good films but they don´t deserve hype

from Dusk till Dawn is a Robert Rodriguez film and I think it shows. Tarantino is a loudmouth gobshite and I think it shows...
Its like Steve Coogan, he's funny and entertaining, but you listen to him in his interviews and his characters are all a little bit of a twat and he's a lot of twat and you realise he's made a lot of this shit out of himself.
But still Coogan is funny, Tarantino is just a fucking rude tosser

Oh I thought From Dusk til Dawn was Tarantino, oh well there isnt any Tarantino that I like then. :)

i think tarantino co-wrote it or some shit like that.
true romance is good.

..i saw Kill Bill yesterday, wicked film i thought, loads of nods to hong kong films, with the shaw brothers logo at the start, also the nods to Akira Kurosawa etc - i liked the school girl killer Go Go, she was in battle Royal. its not a perfect film, but it was worth a fiver and a numb arse.
i think you have to watch it with a pinch of salt, its supposed to be a bit ridiculous..
@ pencilneck - you must have suspended your disbelief for when you watched tetsuo?? expecially the stop animation stylee effects. I think it goes with the territory with tarantino.

I think it's supposed to be over the top, like a Hong Kong movie. If you can appreciate that "pulp with irony" approach, you will definitely like it. You may, however, pity that Tarantino doesn't use his formal creativity to make movies which have actually something to say.

I don't know if he co-wrote it (sounds possible) but what I'm sure of is that he played in "from dusk till dawn"

i didnt think it had any of the typical tarrintino wank at all. a good homage to exceptionally violent, formulaic kung fu movies and that is all i was asking from it. brillzo's.

I really liked it.
Part 2 is already made, because it was only meant to be one film, but that one fim went for over 200 minutes, so they cut the thing right down the middle, 2 is out in feb.

About From Dusk til Dawn:
Wasn't it split up into two parts; Tarantino making the first and the other guy making the second?
(with the break into the zombie part, that would make sense.. great movie btw :D)

Easy way to sort out the From Dusk till Dawn confusion. IMDB from dusk till dawn page (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116367/)

he just stars in dusk till dawn
im sorry but i must leave the guy with credit..
and like richie hawtin.. he's just an easy cunt to slag of..
but the man does he's job very well.. it just he's feel sometimes are un-euro peans mode

4th November 2003, 09:19
i thought it was ok/good - not worth the 5 stars a lot of reviewers have given it, but tarantino does always manage to break conventions at the same time as making very populist films - I'm guessing that a lot of people who go and see KB will probably never have seen a manga movie or that many hong kong films...or uma thurman sans make-up biting someone else's tongue off...etc

@mr franks - actually I rewatched it the other day, its not so bad, better than 'legally blonde 2' anyway. Tetsuo is real innit, so no need to suspend disbelief. Watched an interesting polish movie last night called 'EDI' - anyone seen it?
Paddy
4th November 2003, 18:10
im going to see it tonight.
i just heard that the spectator has written somthing along the lines of:
"the clint eastwood movie is better because of the way that it handles violence"
hmmm.... the thing that really bothers me about the way movies like this by directors like tarantino are judged either before they have been seen, or they are seen by idiot critics who refuse to take the context of the movie into account, this being an homage to hong kong slice 'em ups, which i fuckin love, so of course its going to be fuckin violent!!!!!!
anyway, im not a fuckin arsehole critic and i'll post my full review later.
peace out motherfuckers.....

Kill Bill was okay, by the time i saw it I had heard so much hype that I expected it to be this great movie....I was pretty good, most of the movies these days suck, so its not really going against the best of movies.
I think the RZA did a great job on the Sound track, pretty fuckin cool.

saw it 2 days ago
Follow this recipie
Spagetti Western + Hong Kong Kung Fu flick + a large portion of Pulp Fiction = Kill Bill
I have seen so many Spag/westerns and hong kong movies that this to me was a Mc Donnalds version of 2 genres i love
For some one that has never seen a HK kung fu flick or a spag/western it might be ok, if it was not for the japanese school girl i would have left
;)

don't compare him with hawtin. hawtin has lost completely the point. not so tarrantino.

In fact i haven't seen it but it is a big thing in Poland and everyone is very excited about it! The main role is preformed by a guy whose last film was something like 20 years ago? He was only a kid at that time and the film was black and white. It is a shame but after that he couldn't get any single role. Until now ; )

I saw it recently .. really enjoyed it! ` Has the typical Tarrantino handwriting. Think I`m gonna see it several times like "Pulp fiction". You allways discover something new! And the soundtrack is also great!
