MUSIC IS BETTER OCTOBER: Saturday October 18th
MIB Allstars
DJs: Danny Webb, The Science Block, Roger
Visual Art: Vaudeville, Dot.Matrix
MUSIC IS BETTER: providing a full-range sonic spectrum of electronic music in all its twisted forms. Expect an evening of the best in machine funk, space disco and ESM.
MIB Allstars
MIB is half a year old! Over the last 6 months, we've welcomed on stage a variety of live acts and collectives from Manchester and beyond: the Slow Graffiti/Emerge crew from Cardiff, Sheffield's Razor Stiletto, Manchester's own bizarre Audiomonster, amongst others. For October, we go back to basics, celebrating the people who supply the MIB soundtrack month-in, month-out. The limelight turns on the residents, without whom...
DANNY WEBB
Mate Recordings International boss [who's just finished mastering the rather excellent debut 'Music is Better' compilation album, coming soon]; ace producer [his remix of Roger's "Helsinki Blondes" was snapped up by Tigersushi for their 'How To Kill The DJ' series]; and DJ of some repute [with gigs from Glasgow to Sheffield to London to Helsinki under his belt, alongside the likes of Daniel Wang and Annie & T. Kaukolampi of Telle Records]. A maestro of electronic soul music.
THE SCIENCE BLOCK
Alongside the turntables, The Science Block use an ever expanding array of FX modules, drum machines and samplers to create an environment in which to live-remix a set taking in electro, bass-driven house, and a smattering of the musically unexpected. The highlight of the last 6 months? The Chas and Dave Remix that set people running round the club at the end of the night [surprisingly, not out of the door].
ROGER
"Northern electronica is the country's hottest scene, based in Manchester and Sheffield, with camp semi-Finnish duo Roger to the fore." According to The Observer Music Monthly anyway. Come and see for yourselves.
Visual art supplied by VAUDEVILLE, promoters of the Green Room's performance art events.
