and another cry for help ... i am going to berlin soon ..does anyone know of any funky electronic music clubs... soulful dance music more important than polka dots and screaming peaches, (or banging techno for that matter)... if you get my drift

cheers

I would say the Stellwerk, the Insel and the Bunker. But it's more for harder music and I'm sure most of them have closed since the last time I was there...

just spotted that fiirst paragraph - the file sharing bizness works just fine with macs, you just need a ftp client, one of the macheads might make a recommendation, though I think transmit was alright.

Some infos for techno tourists:

Both Dan Sicko and John & Annick were in Berlin for the 12th birthday of the legendary Tresor club.

This is their report on Berlin and the Tresor celebrations (http://www.technotourist.org/modules.php?set_albumName=albu m15&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php&PHPSESSID=3273547464e3a9e63cbd e7f56d9e3402)

ta for that,,, sorry to be thick, but whats an ftp client when its at home?

re my new thread... think i phrased it badly... actually i am not into banging techno... i want to avoid berlin banging techno... (no offence to all you techno heads out there..and thanks for the recommendations...!)
actually i am looking for small underground electro cliubs/club nights who play funky dance music with soul... there are loads of german brothers and sisters on this site so i am hoping someone can help..

if not .. then does anyone know of an online commuity similar to this, which is german based and will have more berliner electro freaks on it?

thanks all for the help... its so nice!

ta for your interest anyway!

hmm Tony Rohr just played a club in Berlin last weekend and said it was out of control. Around 1100 people and a big Turbo soundsystem. Maybe he'll jump on here today.

i half agree... but why do you think electroc(l)ash(sic) has gone mainstream and lost it? didn't it used to be underground?

are you in uk or elsewhere..whats happening where you are with electroc(l)ash?

was it electrocash ever underground? well, i don´t know, and frankly said i don´t care...it didn´t lose anything, because there was nothing to it.

i am sure there must be something in berlin like that, but we all don´t know here i reckon...

When i was back in Berlin we didn't have all these clubs and things. We just used to sit around under the light of 2 or maybe 3 little candles and tell stories about what it was like before the 1st world war and the time my uncle and his brother (my father) were involved in a rather serious accident with a shire horse. Nowadays you have all these black and white hairstyles and girls leaving the house in the middle of winter dresssed in nothing but a pair of tiny knickers and maybe a boot or two. It's a nighmare come true it really is. The other day i saw a couple of young lads recklessly tearing around the town on one of those 2 wheeled metal contraptions with the seat and the basket on the front. I was suprised they didn't (a) kill themselves or someone else or (b) freeze to death as they were dressed in nothing but simple waistcoats and sandles. I didn't want to but i had to have a look. I'd just like to say also a big thankyou to Ron who has recently replenished my wardrobe with a fine selection of chafeless linnen dresses to put a stop to that awful rash i've been suffering with for so long. And for next to nothing! Ron if you want to come round for the other half of your "payment" then make sure you give me at least two days notice alright pettle?
