I can't say I'll miss it right now, but I've had some good experiences with them in the past. Many times did I order from them, when I studied in Bellingham. They were pretty much the only solution to the absence of record shops there.
I also played twice for their radio station in Seattle. After that I kinda lost interest, although I did get quite a few gems when they had a big sale.

the radio station occasionally had some good stuff but I hardly ever used the shop, there are so many better (and independent) places, like Boomkat, Picadilly, Smallfish, Innercity etc...although I guess it depends what you're looking for. I buy most stuff off of eBay and gemm these days.

www.gemm.com
it's like a market place, loads of dealers all on one database, so you search for a record and it may be held by a dealer in Germany, UK, USA.....anywhere at all in fact. It's awesome for second hand and hard to find records. You just have to be careful of a few things, like who you buy from, and how much postage is being charged. Also, gemm often adds a charge (this is how they make their money).
But when you are buying rare vinyl it often matters less about the price, right? So you just pay and wait and then you're happy when it comes.

yeah they have CDs too, jukka.
don't spend too much!!
btw gemm is also a useful guide to refer to when selling records. I just check the average price then set it a little lower for people to buy.

Yeah, my thoughts on Groovetech was that it didn't do a very good job of presenting an awful lot of information - both on the radio station and the record shop.
It was all very open ended and search engine based - which is fine, if you know what you are looking for, or what you were looking for fitted into a nice easy category...
I just get frustrated by internet record shops, in my opinion the rubbish ones are usually the best, because at least these just have a big list of records in a-z order and you can browse through them, much like the racks at a shop.
The bigger and more illustrious sites, tend to fall foul of aesthetic sensibilities over function.
Just had a look at that Gemm, its certainly a sellers market, definitely not the place for a bargain - I mean there's people selling secondhand tresor records that you can still buy from Tresor - for quite silly amounts of money...

I've bought dozens of records from gemm, never had a problem from anyone. As long as you aren't stupid and buy from someone with a 0% fulfillment or loads of bad reviews, there shouldn't be a problem. Plus when you buy through gemm they guarantee it or give you a refund if the dealer doesn't deliver as agreed.
