a major debate has erupted in my office and maybe you can help to bring it to a close...
who wrote or originally recorded the song 'hurt' that Johnny cash recently sung?

i agree with the nine inch nails.... but i never heard of killin´ for such reason.... i do know that he went for a vacation to the prison for smuggling drug´s in hes guitarbag thou.
he was kind off a crazy man when i was young... i don´t know. maybe he killed.
still, hes music was great... (solitary man), ma favourite.

Johnny Cash killed a man just to watch him die.
Or possibly that was just a song.
RIP the man in black.

well, in my opinion 90s gothic superstar resznor always sucked, except for the first album which was pure energy. i didn't hear that song though, but comparing cash and reznor is like... different dimensions, no? a true legend vs. a clever stylist - in my opinion.

thats why Cash's American series was such a special set of recordings to leave us all with.
he also covered U2 , Nick Cave and others that you would least expect.
Especially with the Cave song , Mercy Seat - the effect was like Johnny Cash clearly stamping his influence on modern songwriting forever - after hearing his version of The Mercy Seat , it seems that it was his song all along - same with One and Hurt - then , on the last album of the series he sings this incredible song - the man comes around - which he wrote himself , almost like he had faced the inevitable and was prepared to leave this Earth...

i heard that he recorded about 50 tracks for american v, dunno if they were finished or will ever see the light of day. hope that they do, but also hope that they don't try and release crappy best of's.

I bought the man comes around a week before his death. and that album is the best of 2003 (next to tomahawk: mit gas).
the song 'the man comes around' is indeed very good. but one of the best covers on the album I thought was personal jesus by depeche mode. thought that version was fantastic.
also I thought it was cool john furciante (spellcheck) the guitarist from red hot chili peppers played on a track.
