Sidenote:

I should have put this in the tech section really, I mean it could be the ultimate midi controller!

deja vu!

does anyone else remember that guy who was going on about this on the old board a year or so ago? does anyone believe it now? i don't think anyone did then! i don't know anything about the background but it seems a bit unlikely that its a useable controller with enough channels/resolution for musical use. for now, anyway.

This is just silly.........but an interesting point is the assumption that some people make that controling technology "directly" with the "mind/brain" is possible or even desirable..I think it all rests on a kind of essentalist view of people/persons that assumes the brain/mind (poorly framed as a notion most of the time) is somehow more "you" than yer body...Im not a Cartesian Dualist, so this kind of thing, or quest, just seems daft unless it aims to restore function to people with injuries or neuro-physical dysfunction...I havent even began to exhaust the possibilties of something like a kaoos pad, or air effects unit and a set of decks! we do exist in at least four dimensions after all...It reminds me of the film "The Adventures of Baron Von Munchausen" when Robin Williams head is flying about singing "The body is dead, long live the head!" Personally I like touching things!!!
