Weymouth residents - check the Hype section of the new issue of The Face. Hope the facts are roughly accurate.

I believe the person responsible for the Bristol article posts (or at least lurks) here, so I'll let him answer that.

Wait a sec and I'll dig out the Weymouth piece.

Ta mate... is of extreme relevence seeing as I'm going to be in the area as of the end of the month...

Ah, here we go -

"WEY TO GO: Eclectic Electric is a club in Weymouth, promoted by Rock Apes (a local term for people from the island of Portland), that plays... well, eclectic stuff, but especially techno, electro and, er, ghettotech. Gettotech in Weymouth? Gotta be good."

It's in the UK Loop section, so it's in big type, takes up like 1/8th page.

EH ? What's all this about then ?

Knid, is this in this months issue or something ? I know nothing about it........and none of the bloody shops on the rock sell The Face (too cool for us!) do I can't even check it.

It's not technically accurate though - only most of the crew are Rock Apes. I'm thechnically a Kimberlin, which is a local term for people living on the island but not born here. Think Royston Vasey but weirder :-p . Being Irish, it's more evidence of the murfia in action;)

Was I responsible for the ghetto tech? or has someone else been dropping Databass records Paddy? I think the electronic invasion of Weymouth is imminent...

Ha ha, that is well funny. Just saw it this morning.

I guess the ghetto-tech must have been you, Mark. I've got some but I haven't dropped any for ages as I've been doing the earlier, warm-up slots. And I haven't heard anybody else drop any.

Emef, temporary pass ? You might never leave ! Remember "you're my wife now, Dave ?" from the League of Gentlemen ? :-p

Sorry for any inaccuracies. It was me put it in there, just gleaning information from here. Unfortunately they just printed the suggestion I sent to the section editor without checking back first - if they had I would have got back to you guys for more facts. Oh well, at least it gets the name out there, right?

Not a prob - what use is working inna Babylon if you can't slip a little bit of the good stuff under the radar every so often?

Actually, the Face is REALLY keen to steer away from London-centric reporting, and is always looking for stories about local scenes with a particular character / sound / look / culture of their own - this applies to anyone in UK or further afield. Take note, all, and let me know or contact the mag if there's something good going on near you.

Cool. Just seen it.

Nice one for that. I'm even happy about the reference to "rock apes".
