i`m watching this programme on channel4 (uk)
called "my new best friend" and it is so funny.
basically to win £10,000 the poor stooge has to pretend that this complete psycho is his best friend from way back , and over the course of the weekend this best friend is put in amongst the stooges other friends and basically acts like a lunatic.
ad break over, part 2 is on cya
watch it, it kills

Yeah c'mon emef, u can't serioulsy nominate some Reality TV programme -
i reckon these things are all scripted and acted by out of work RADA students any way..
..and even if it isn't, what sort of people are going to apply to go on a reality tv programme? out of work RADA students.
A-team gets my vote... I wanna know when they're gonna do a big budget hollywood movie...
OK maybe MASH, that really was quality too...

i didn`t nominate it, i`m not the baftas you know
i dont care how they arrived at the end result... scripted or not
it made me piss myself (nearly)
my particular taste is no yardstick of quality but i think its a cracking (sur)reality programme.

my new best friend, yeah pretty fucked up. i saw one episode with the "gay counsellor" and another with the "new age-er" and i think its the same actor, but the contestant's real as i understand it. shit-funny nonetheless. loved the bit where he kept the poor bloke awake with a "choose your own adventure" story.

That bit tickled me as well
Contestant - "Just FUCK OFF, I've got football in the moring"
Best Friend - "There's no need to shout, you could have gone to sleep half an hour ago if you'd followed the Elf's advice!"
:D

i`m probably wrong but i reckon the guy who plays the annoying new best friend looks like one of the blokes out of cyderdelic.
does anyone know if it is him, it bloody looks like him.
quality act... cyderdelic
Lady E
26th August 2003, 10:26
it is the bloke from cyderdelic
i went to college with the other main bloke from cyderdelic a guy called barry castagnola. we did government and politics and english alevels together, he's a quality bloke and always was very funny and a talented actor
i think my new best friend is excellent - the one with stevie was the best, but i love it!

oh yeah so it is, only saw that once but i remember it being good... thats it emma, stevie. he made that bloke "come out" in front of his sister, he looked totally gutted when she said she wasn't surprised to find out!
emef
26th August 2003, 12:50
yeah that was really funny, being made to come out and non of your friends are surprised, at all... haha

A-team gets my vote... I wanna know when they're gonna do a big budget hollywood movie...
rumors have been floating around for some time - what scares me though is who are they gonna have to act these parts?
something tells me that hollywood would be totally happy with dangling some gold chains around samuel l. jackson's neck and coloring george clooney's hair white - I love it when a plan comes together my foot!
basically I feel like this is gonna be godzilla all over again... oh well, one can dream!

When the A-Team first started I'm pretty sure the first pilot episode was about 90 mins long .... does that not constitute being a movie of sorts ..?

26th August 2003, 15:27
...and still available to buy on VHS? You betcha!!! :D

old skool: the pilot, "mexican slayride" which still had somebody else as face, was a double episode, about 42 minutes long each. there was a couple more double episodes during a-teams run, one per season, and season 5 actually kicked off with a very dramatic triple episode

@Wheezer,
If you had a plan, it would deffo come together.
Your knowledge of the A-Team is proper bo I tell thee ....
I remember when Murdock got shot ...I'm pretty sure I shed a tear but my drug befuddled mind has made that memory quite hazey ...

my life is just very sad, is all.
do you mean the one on the 747 when b.a. can't move out of fear of flying and murdock gets temporarily blinded?
old skool
26th August 2003, 16:03
Errr ...I dunno ... I'm pretty sure I remember him sort of lying on a bunk or summat in a room half-dying and BA getting all upset and they have this heart to heart and kiss ...well maybe not kiss ...

ahhh that reminds me.
the 1980`s "made for tv movie"
these are legendary in my household.
mostly consigned to channel 5 afternoons now, i cant get enough of the american MFTVM... shocking family viewing.

Done this before, my fantasy a-team list has to be...
Bruce Willis - The Colonel
George Clooney - The Face Man
Jim Carey - Howling Mad Murdoch
Ving Rhames - BA Baracus
Sadly seeing as the fist 3 total at least $75M in wages, its unlikely to happen...

My Dream A-Team lineup -
Face - Kevin Spacey (he can do just the right amount of smarm)
Murdoch - Brad Pitt (remember 12 monkeys?)
Colonel - George Clooney (so the obvious choice)
BA - Craig David (I bedded her on the Wednesday, foo)

the only episode that really sticks in my mind is the one where they made a cabbage gun. they shot the bad guys with cabbages. if only real soldiers used weapons like that, wars would be a lot more fun.

the cabbage episode is brilliant, several good moments in it aside from the cabbage gun, like when a farmer cons face into trading his designer shoes for the farming machine that was subsequently turned into the cabbage gun... excellent episode!

i wish i could see the boy george episode again.
re: my new best friend. what was so funny about the 'coming out' scene was how chuffed the girl was to be getting the news first, and then being able to say she wasnt surprised, thinking this showed her fabulous instinct.
how wrong she was...that was a classic girl reaction.

there seems to be a real fixation with brighton people and the a-team boy george episode, had to show that one to ibi as well, twice I think lol
