Shiiit... Where's my dancin' shoooz???
Considering it's a bank holiday, I'm taking it particularly easy(or at least I HAD planned to...):
Sat: Drinkies & then Haywire to see Decal, Matt Carter & my bwoy, Rick Hopkins.
Sun: Loafin' & mixin' no doubt... and maybe checkin' out a night called Bootytronics @ Public Life
Monday: Maybe venturing to N.Hill Carnival or checkin' out 'Freddy Vs Jason' @ the flicks.
...and trying to stay outta those d-a-m-n record shops!

Had an ok'ish time at Creamfields. Stanton Warriors were great (with vocal backing from Rodney P), Massive Attack were o.k but a bit morose and Dave Clarke live was good (played Red 2 which sounded ace) but then some awful wannabe Miss Kittin type singers came on at the end and ruined it. The Chem's were shite. Music wise the worst Creamfields I've been too .....atmosphere was o.k but more scallies than ever .. my last Creamfields I think ...
Deffo should have gone to Tribals warehouse do.
Never mind eh ...

Re: Garnier.
A mate of mine who went to the Tribal party said basically he played all my favourite tracks from the last 15 odd years in one set.
Fuck !
If I'd have been there, I could basically knock all this ravin' lark on the head cos a night out would never get better than that ...!
Maybe it was a good thing I wasn't there then methinks :0)

I went to a multi rig outdoor party somewhere in Norfolk. The party was initially meant to be in Kent but then Wang pulled out and Dead Silence decided to do it a bit further out. . Loads of good music , a mix of techno, electro, hardcore, some old rave classics and even some dub and rock N’roll.
Went there saturday night and spent most of Sunday there. Then back to London for more party and then lots of sleep on monday.

Had a fairly quiet bank holiday by all accounts, played a semi-live thang at a mates house party...clientele were not really from the "fucked up noise /Glitch" side of the fence, but i had a good time! Towards the end some unconcious fellow got his WHOLE face graffitied with black permanant marker...hardly original but the 'graph artist' did a bloody good job!!! (i would've loved to have been a fly on the wall when he woke up the next day!)
Checked out the Rolling Stones with the old man on the Sunday @ Twickenham...255k rig, big production budget for visuals/pyrotechnics/ and a bloody good set from the old boys. All the classics. Paint It Black was a particular 'moment' for me.
Watched Superman with a spliff monday and watched Blackburn get spanked by City in the evening.
I now have to play agony uncle after work for a mate who has just finished his 7 year marriage. Anyone here got any advice to give? Any divorcee's in da house?
I can't wait for this evening's drinking session!

Bitch One...send my regards to Robbie, that's a terrible thing to happen to someone. It is even worse that it was no accident!!
BOAT PARTY REPORT:-
What can I say? All my expectations were met and then some..even ended up getting down on the dancefloor with the man Dancer at the end of the day.
We set off from the West End (Glasgow) around 4:30pm for an hour bus journey down to the Victoria Docks, which incidentally is hardly the most picturesque of towns for all those unfamiliar. However, this was more than compensated when we climbed aboard and set off - straight into some spectacular scenery with Brett Dancer dropping, as you'd expect, many a Trackmode record. I didn't recognise too much of his set after that apart from the odd new release (the Danny Krivit edit of incognito being one of them).
As the party ran for 4 hours, the guests took the helm (ahem) for the duration. Obviously Brett Dancer kicked off proceedings, therefore Larry Heard brought us home for the final two hours.
I knew it had to be Heard when I was below deck at the bar and the strains of "Can you feel it" floated down. We headed back to check out what else he had on offer....soon after he had us swaying to some real soulful sounds an then progressed to a more up-front approach with "Energy Flash" heralding the start of this. The party ended with some nice chunky tracks being thrown down. All in all I was more than happy.

Sounds great... (Wierd hours though, innit?)
Was equally gutted to have heard reports from the London show... Robert Owens in da house n' everythang!!!

Yeah, Robert Owens was cutting about talking to peeps but never jammed on the mics at the end or anything like that.
Goonie
27th August 2003, 10:48
Basic - that sounds amazing, glad it went well, a few of us managed to catch their set in London at bar rhumba, it was an odd choice of venue I think there were about 50 people still there at the end which was a bit sad. we showed up late and they let us in for half price (?) no complaints! Robert Owens sang over a few old Fingers Inc records towards the end, I thought that was just fantastic even though the crowd was a bit sparse. After the gig I was trying to work out how much it would cost to travel up to Glasgow to go to the gig again on sunday I bet the atmosphere on the boat was something to be proud of?
Hazell
27th August 2003, 11:21
Location oversight for sure...
This is the reason I didn't make that little extra effort necessary to drag my tired arse down there (even though I found out very late) - Couldn't handle seeing Heard for the second time in front of a bunch of peeps that couldn't give a toss(For first time, see his appearance @ that shithole, Home a few years back!)...
A few of my mates went to 'Rhumba and said that it seemed like barely anyone was there for the music which indeed is a shame...
They DID say it was the shit tho'!

The boat was superb...such a chilled atmos all day long. It was a really hot day as well, definitely in the 80s anyway. Perfect!

27th August 2003, 12:07
yup i can confirm larry and brett in london were amazing, yup the venue choice was odd, but i loved having room to dance, to be honest i cannot be bothered sometimes seeing guests off the same ilk whilst being sardine canned into plastic people ( despite the sound system )
dunno if the crowd was as bad as you may have thought Hazell, everyone looked to be having fun in my book, i rekon that matters more than an in depth knowledge of trackmode releases
and when robert owns came on to sing was very nearly teary eyed, an excellent gig in my book, glad the glasgow one worked out too

Couldn't agree more, but the idea of going to a club as renowned as Bar Rhumba in the West End on a Friday night is rather unappealing these days. Glad it panned out ok and am gutted not to have gone now. :(

I had a weddingy weekend in Leeds - watched my old housemate from college get hitched, which was really excellent - at last she's picked a winner after a long stream of losers! So, much drinking (too much drinking...urgh), hotel frolics, dressing up in suave clothes, posh food, drunken Twister...it was very fine.
(The ceremony was in this lovely country house-type place near Harrogate - dead nice - as we were walking round the back for the blessing ceremony we walked past the cafe, where a few people were hanging out in the sun...apparently one of them was Liv Tyler! Shame I didn't pay more attention really, she's cute :) )
No carnival though, on the grounds that it's shit - one thing that is guaranteed to get me mad and hopping is being stuck in a massive crowd whilst suffering from bladder strain (this also encourages the hopping).
