i read the book recently. after reading it the film seems like utter crap. maybe that effect will wear off.

still, i love EON

yeah, the book is unmeasurably better than the film. still, the film has it's moments and some of those wavs were cool. many years ago a friend of mine made a fucking scary drum'n'bass track with a wild filtered drum sample, it had this breakdown, at the end of it he stuck in a sample of the navigator saying "i did not say this......i...am...not....here ", before the drums came back in. proper scary.

what's EON?

ah. i remember seeing Eon down at Knowledge about 11 years ago. is that the same guy?

Greg Bear wrote a pretty nifty sci-fi novel called Eon too.

That sounds very Eon... the original tracks were actually produced by Ian B, but J S Kane did mixes of them all too. Ian B's gone on to do some really good stuff with Baby Ford as Minimal Man and various other guises, on Ifach and various other labels.

j saul kane on the desk for all the eon records that matter.
co produced and mixed.

mindkiller is a classic too , great bassline.

have you heard phaze test by eon, really over the top efx , fantastic

eon had some records out in the last couple of years that didnt have j saul kane on and they were quite poor, the longhaul ones in particular.

Bizarrely enough, that Fuckboy Slim record with Christopher Walken in the video features a line that says "If you walk without rhythm, you won't attract the worm".

I still love the film, even though it necessarily elides a lot of the book; I look at them more as parallel projects, you can get more enjoyment out of them that way. There was a recent serialisation of Dune on Sc-Fi channel that was excellent despite the presence of Gemma Redgrave, its greater length (several hours) enabling it to follow the book much more faithfully.
