@ Omen: HEHE... no Gießen was the point for east German fugitives. I was there for 6 or 8 weeks (1984) before we were allowed to settle to lower saxony where a part of our family lived.

And it was the first bad kontakt, a person asked my parents in the city "Do you need hash". I was 6 but i remember that. And now i am a hasher. :-)

as i wrote, i was in erfurt for that weekend... different to the other visits there, i couldn't get to a computer with internet there, i was cut off the civilisation :-))) the only thing i saw was a city called schmalkalden (maybe somebody knows this city in the middle of a neverending forrest) and the rest of the time i was in e.f. ...
we needed 3 full tanks of fuel over 5 days... oh my money... i had to pay all myself...
