hi no-future
our next WERK happening marks the launch of our little label – WERK DISCS - with a rather special guest in the shape of SURGEON.
the WERK DISCS label will be commencing with a limited CD-r only run of two EPs: one each from ACTRESS and BEN CODEC… (more details soon).
this is a DIY enterprise, and the EPs should be available to buy on www.werk-it.com and in a few record shops (if they’ll have us) from around september 17th. expect each EP to embrace 6 tracks of top-notch werk-style electronics and some lo-fi potato-print packaging for only a few quid …
but anyway
we can only fit 220 werkers into Plastic People though, so we’re doing tickets for this one. it could be quite busy, but we want to make sure that the werk regulars get in - that includes no-futurists - before the tix go into the shops...
IF YOU WANT TICKETS (AT £8 A POP) FOR THE SURGEON GIG, E-MAIL US BACK AT LIZARD@WERK-IT.COM AND WE”LL SORT IT OUT… SOMEHOW.
okay, on with the party details…

WERK
THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 11TH
9 pm – 2 am
the werk discs label launch
@ plastic people
with special guest:
SURGEON
yes, we know we’re not a techno night, but having seen surgeon spinning at ATP we thought – “we must have him!”
on the strength of that performance it seems clear that he’s not just a techno DJ either… so he’s agreed to come down and do something a little bit special for WERK in the cosy surroundings of plastic people. in fact, we asked surgeon just the other day what we could expect, and here’s what he said: “i’ll be 'stretching the musical boundaries' a hell of a lot more than a normal techno club set, like how I approached my set at ATP, but further maybe.”
+
ACTRESS (live)
debuting tracks from his forthcoming ‘on set in monte christo’ EP on WerkDiscs – expect a mix of high-octane electro, low-ass bass and high camp.
BEN CODEC (live)
WerkDisc’s joint debut release comes from this lad, who will be throwing his toys behind the laptop with a taste of what to expect from the EP.
FORMAT.K (live)
k’s EP is in the bag, so we hear, and judging by his live performance at our 1st birthday, it’ll be a wee corker.
PO-SKI (playing records)
as usual, the residentials will be bringing up the rear, setting the early agenda for the night with some oddball vinyl and ham-fisted mixing.
plastic people is at 147 curtain road, london, EC2. (www.plasticpeople.co.uk)
