View Full Version : Need Advice on G4 audio connections

so I finally got my G4 last friday, and I noticed that on the back there are no
connections for audio in or out. so my question is what do I buy that will give me
the connections I need? I went to apple's site and I found a midiman audiophile 24/96
for like 170 american and it looks like that would give me what I need.
there was also an edirol UA-3 usb audio interface for 180 american. they both have
pretty solid specs. all I am looking for is something to run audio into my comp, like my turntables, and maybe a synth or drum machine where I can sample and do edits, etc.
which one sounds like the better one to get, or are there any other devices you can
reccomend. I am on a pretty limited budget (going to school, and not having a job).
so if anyone can give me some advice I would really appreciate it!!
cristian are you out there, don't you use mac's??
thanks.

you are talkinga about a powermac or a tibook?? the powermac g4 has 1/8inch (mini) stereo ins and outs on the back... the tibook has only audio out, a mini jack on the left side...

I have a power mac G4 tower. and no the only audio outs it has is an 1/8 mini jack for headphones. there are no audio ins at all, you have to buy the components seperately

i'm not positive, but i think griffon technologies makes a usb to audio adapter for this problem. it's gives you the basic 1/8" in/out that the older macs had. i'd say just go to macmall.com or macwarehouse.com or someplace like that and you should have no problem finding one. they assuredly don't have audiophile specs, but it would get the job done... and cheap. i'd guess for about $50 or so. i don't have a g4 myself, but i can imagine that this problem is a pain in the ass.
