I'd love to see Woody McBride just for old time's sake. I haven't been too impressed by his recent records but he does have some classic stuff. I have no idea if he is a good dj but i've heard his live PA rocks. good luck

I heard him several times, allready some years ago... If you are looking for a pure 4/4 acid DJ, it's the man to take !!

I have seen woody twice. he's a pretty solid dj. he's got the technical skills,
but all he plays is acid. I haven't seen him in a couple of years though but I remember
getting pretty tired of hearing the 303 for 1 1/2 hours. but if I had the chance to see
him in my town I know I would go.

if you want to hear a great acid-set and not get bored after 1 hour you really should go for CEEPHAX ACID CREW. he's the man!!!!!

wasn't that much on audiogalaxy by ceephax...will continue lookin tho.
yeah, i am quite a fan of basketball heroes and generally would just be interetesteed in hearing him.
but frankly from the midwestern US i would much rather hear paul birken...
"Paul's live sets include everything from new trax that you'll never hear on a record to last minute remixes of other artists trax that he wants to include in the 60-90 minute set. Each set is unique in that it gets erased after the event and won't be heard again"
(from http://www.jackstar-recordings.com)
and how much do i love 'speaker freakin'? (btw, i am looking for a copy of that record if anyone has one...)

I'd like to have seen the people trying to dance to Ceephax acid crew's Acid Protege when he did it live. :D

Birken is very talented...I'd definately like to see him. Did anyone see Adam X plying at the Haywire thing a few weeks ago? was he any good? I've got a mix tape by him that's really badly mixed. good choice of records but he plays everything really slow at -6 .
McBride's 'come in' record on Bush is amazing. There's a really twisted techno track on that..

haha!! "put your head into the speaker" I love that track, wish I had it too.
Adam X does put out some shoddy tapes. I've got several of his and in no way do they
capture the way he sounds live. very frustrating.
Paul Birkens double pack on Communique - Surfin' Superior is also ..erm Superior! Anyone got a spare copy or seen one for sale?

Is that the one with the distorted & pitched screamin vocal over frenetic gabber acid? love that one!

well...
I jumped in this thread to see what people thought of my bud Woody and ended up surprised to see that people knew my name overseas! ha ha ha
I'd love to have a chance to make it over to the UK (or anywhere in Europe) to play some live sets and meet up with various producers to toss together some tracks.
I've started up a new label (3 releases so far) called "Tonewrecker" and have a bunch of new releases lined up for this fall.
#4 is Woody vs. myself
#5 Mark EG and Chrissi vs. myself
#6 Dylan Drazen
#7 Paul Langley (with a remix by myself)
Glad to hear some of you like the tunes I've got..
keep banging em' and don't lose the funk.
P. Birken
Lately, Woody's gone back to a much "harder" techno sound..a bit rougher in his dj sets.. good stuff.

I happen to have that ep of Paul Birken as well (the one with the "speaker freakin", but that "put your head into the speaker"-track is the only one I don't like. The rest is fucking classic, I should occasionally dig that record out again and give it a listen.

we're supposed to play with him in Toronto next friday (the 26th). I'd be TOTALLY STOKED to see him play, but we have to run off after our set to play in another city that night... :(
I'll post a link to reviews on a local messageboard afterward though if anyone wants...

well, for those of you who are Woody McBride fans...you can now get one of these fine tshirts with the man himself on it since he's got the track opposite mine on Tonewrecker 04 :-)

i've heard Woody play a few times when i used to live in Arizona and those stand out as really amazing nights in my life. he even once dropped Neil Landstrumms 'Inhabit the Machines' while i was peaking my nuts off on sugarcubes.
i say get Birken out there too. maybe have 'em play back to back.
