Ah, William Burroughs. I love him. He manages to make sex seens so disturbing and yet so romantic at the same time. In fact, a couple of the sex scenes in Naked Lunch are the most romantic that I've read in a book. And then one of them gets hanged. Very disturbing, and very, very great stuff.

sex and death :) inextricably linked in the mind of any symbolist

(is symbolist a real word?)

I've only read the first pages of "naked lounge"...
It seems "naked lunch" rather than Burroughs books are a bit strange, aren't they? I mean his
style of writing...

I don't know, I've been having lots of erm weird ideas about letters, number and symbol systems - like how they must impose a certain set of order in us, like a base level operating system for our minds - which gets me wondering about the design of symbols, it's partly because I've started sketching, so needed a take any where subject matter that I can sit and do anywhere, so I chose symbols...

I was wandering what someone who invents symbols and symbol systems is called - maybe a symbolographer, so not a symbolist at all, but it's 1am and clearly time for my waffles any way...

you'd probably get alot out of Cirlot's Dictionary of Symbols.

i think it's quite an expensive book, but u ought to be able to find it in a library

drunk too much coffee again. thinking of borrowing wired's nickname for these moments LOL

...insomniac wanderings...

don't you hate it when your body is tired but your mind is shouting "must! do! stuff!"

I do. I'm going to be knackered in the morning now.

yup. i´m lucky i can go to my job later without loosing it but i don´t earn much money that way. somehow better than to be always totally fucked in the morning and your mind is waking up again at 10 pm but that ain´a solution either....
