few days ago i found in my basement, my neighbour's stuff (it was just placed in the corridor), and you don't believe but there were so many records (mainly polish jazz) that i couldn't pick all of them, now i enjoy some of them.

jazz is the best. I like all the usual guys: miles, coltrane, charlie parker. actually my most prized piece of vinyl is an original pressing of miles davis bitches brew.

as of recently I have been listening to a lot of metal, mainly candiria. they meld metal/hip hop/ and jazz. their fusion of metal and jazz is impecable. anyone who are fans of both genres should check them out.

More of a jazz-ass than jazz-head myself. Got a hangover or doing mushrooms or just need to relax: Miles Davis: Porgy & Bess

what a silly statement. you should read this board more carefully. or are you trying to be subversive? errrm im not in the best mood right now, dont blame me for that one. better ill have a break now.

.
break over.
i do listen sometimes to miles davis, john coltrane, herbie hancock, thelonius monk.
the thing with jazz and me is, i do like the hmm( i cant say arrangement here can i?) structure or how the theme is getting developed. i hope you know what im talking about.. but the other thing is that im a soundnerd, i really cant listen to the sound of a trumphet or a saxophon for longer than 1 hour.its strange but it makes me go insane, really. on the other hand i can live with the sound of the piano. thats why i do like listen to monk. ever seen him on an old video playing? it looks really funny then hes playing. like a man typing with the eagle system on a keyboard(do you know the eaglesys? its beginnerstyping, then your fingers are flying like eagles over the keyboard). and thats how it looks like than monk was playing piano.
any other recommandable pianojazzplayers out there?

marcel...chill, just a little bit of sarcasm. i do love the sax but the clarinet is my fav instrument. piano is great too. mccoy tyner is just so fucking amazing with those weird chords he does. aback to saxes and clarinets i just realized how good eric dolphy is. played with mingus and coltrane and some solo stuff but his clarinet playing is so good

The guy who lived below me was a jazz freak - he had like 20,000 LPs and loads of cd's too. There was only room for a stereo and listening chair in his lounge the rest of the room was just full of music. He's dead now but I still hear his wife listening to the records. I used to sit in the stairwell sometimes listening because he played his records loud - he had a wicked stereo system too.

check for bill evans (but not bill evans the sax player). he did a lot with miles davis, but aswell a lot of solo or duo albums (with jim hall for example) that are good. his style is pretty unique, beautiful chord-structures and phrasing.

check for charles mingus. quite weird at times but often interesting.

check for bobby timmons (great record on riverside: "this here is bobby timmons").

well, jimmy smith is organ player, but his "any number can win" album on verve is just damn good.

herbie hancock of course. for example "maiden voyage" and "fat albert rotunda".

there´s loads more. i´ll have to check my collection...

porgy and bess, sketches of spain and miles ahead. these three albums of miles together with gil evans to me are some of the best jazz records ever done.

the old swing is the best... you know the crazy 30's.... contrabass, trumpet, percussion and sometimes clairnet... but i hate jazz with guitars - it sounds vapid... but it doesn't mean i hate guitar sound... i'm a begginer blues guitar player... some peaple say that blues is one of many faces of jazz...
