hey y'all,
I want to start selling my record label produce on the web and need advice. Payments will need to come in from around the globe. Traffic is not gonna be that high i suspect, so what methods do you recommend? Anyone used Paypal? or have recommendations of cheap credit card processing services? or any other ideas?

transfer the money to your bankaccount. That´s very easy, and especially if you don´t think there will be much traffic..
I have the same ide for my website....

but its a pain in the arse, is expensive (especially if you are only buying a few things), and its the reason why i hardly ever use humpty stuttgart. i think its ok within the same country (or currency in europe), but when you have to start going to the bank and filling in two page forms and getting involved in international clearing systems it becomes a drag. just my 2p worth...

i use www.ccnow.com to sell records on my site.
they take 9% and it works very well....and they pay on time.
i was gonna use paypal but it wouldn`t work for some reason....cant remember why now.

i think paypal is pretty cool actually - but I'm not sure it works in Oz...

its ok cos you don't have to worry about invoicing single items really - theres no actual income going into your business until you transfer from your paypal credit card to your business account... so you can just draw up invoices for single payments... otherwise you have to deal with tax issues , VAT , VAT exemption etc... actually i haven't ever used it - we used to do CC merchant services , but it was a pain keeping track of what payment was for what cos the payments from the merchant bank would dribble through over a period of three months after transactions...

i've used paypal to sell used records on my website some and i really like it. it was very easy to set up (u can do it by e-mailing individual requests for money -- what i did -- or by setting up an actually shopping cart using their html code). the money transfers into your paypal account almost immediately, and they don't charge very much at all (i think its like 35 cents a transaction).

i think though that it only works for companies in the US, but look on e-bay, there is probably an australian equivalent.

sounds to me like paypal is good if you are the kind of unhelpful git who xat sih yap t'nseod . i really wanna do it. it seems important to me that an individual can conduct transactions with consenting likeminds. aint that what the internet's about?

From customr point of view: PayPal isn't available for Polish citizens. Actually it's only for 36 countries. I like CCnow - very easy to use.
