Transmitting audio via Firewire

Does anyone know if its possible to transmit audio via FireWire(I'm trying to connect a powerbook to an old imac whitch doesn't have an audio imput). what softwares do i need?......Thanks for any help you can give

what kind of powerbook do you have?
if it is a tibook you can use it in firewire target disk mode. you can stream the audio but you can copy files as if the imacwas a firewire harddrive.
connect the two machines w/firewire cable (duh hehe)
turn on the tibook
let it boot up
turn on the imac while holding down the letter t
soon you will see the firewire icon on the imac and its hard drive and desktop contents on the tibook.
if that doesnt work try it the other way round (using the powerbook as the target drive)
