rain, rain, rain - i thought in moving to nyc, there would be an improvement in weather from london, but no - a ridiculously cold winter that is never going to end. and 21 out of the last 30 days of rain. i want my sweltering nyc summer heat!!

and to top it all off. they have turned the field day festival that i was looking forward to for this weekend, into a stadium concert because the idiot promoters didnt get all the permits. they wil probably strip all the acts i wanted to see off the lineup as well.

damn today. (sorry had to vent!)

tell you what... i`ll do you a deal, i`ll trade your rain for prestons scorching sun.
keep it under your hat though or i`ll have to start doing the same deal for everyone lol

i do so love a bit of rain and cold over the sun any day of the week.
although i am slowly coming to terms with the fact that an anti-sun stance will only attract raised eyebrows and dracula comments :D

too much sun=stinkin people in the subway... unhygienal ruins everywhere. people please wash yourselves and use a bloody deo.it really hurts...

and me non-stop sweating for 5 days now... cannot sleep longer than 8 am because then my room is already like a sauna. but hey, at least i don´t look like dracula anymore :) some rain would be nice though...

Also, I vant to suck your blood!

i love summer rain. i love thunderstorms. what i dont like is snow in May. or having to wear my winter coat in June. or looking at the forcast and for the next 7 days only seeing rain clouds. what is with this weather?!?

that and i really hate ny promoters - everytime i go out it seems like something goes wrong. either we have ridiculous lines to wait in or once you get in the djs you came to see dont show up or there is no vibe, just a bunch of chin-strokers, or its so packed that you cant breath. i have been to ONE good party (the warp tour with weatherall, prefuse 73 and plaid) since i moved back to this bloody city. and i wasnt complaining because i was OK with it because i had stuff like this festival (the day i was going to was the beastie boys, blur, NERD, the streets, the roots, Sigor Ros, Le Tigre, blackilicious, etc) and squarepusher in july to look forward to. but damn them! why the fuck dont americans know how to have a party?!?

bitch, bitch, bitch. moan, moan, moan...

Loz
4th June 2003, 21:10
It's well known that Americans don't know how to party. Also, America never really got into electronics.. they're still haven't quite got over the guitar.

(not to say that the guitar doesn't RAWK, but electronica does RAWK too, in different ways)

Hmmm.. be interesting to see anyone try to chin-stroke to Squarepusher..

i am sure it'll happen. my mates and i go out, and we are the ONLY ones dancing. even had people come up to us and say - "well you guys are the life of the party." why do you go out and not dance?!? i just dont get it. for me, its not a choice - i have to move when i hear good music.

emef
5th June 2003, 01:45
haha i was gonna suggest LA to kari, cos i heard it never rains there AT ALL !
i suppose the obvious glaring downside to the constant sun is that it has driven all the LA-eans stark raving mad.
i hear they are carrying their dogs around in little designer papouses/doggy hammocks, now... NICE ! lol

this is how I feel when I go out in London sometimes - why do people pay door tax to go to a gig to see someone amazing, then stand around looking miserable?

5th June 2003, 10:55
classic london behaviour. it happens in brighton a bit too. the thing they do here is not go out till really late then stand at the bar...but everything shuts so early that by the time they actually decide to start dancing its all over.
bastards

this happens everywhere i reckon.
i usually find that a few words on the microphone, while not getting all the chinstrokers away from the bar, at least makes me feel a bit better.

why go to a club and not dance... i just dont get it????

maybe they didnt know it is "dance music" , perhaps they think it is "lean against the bar with a bottle of imported pish while slagging the mixing/liveset, music"

hey it doesn´t matter which season we have.
whether it´s winter or summer. it´s the same all the time.

totally fucked up. Sun is only an illusion, trying to hide the world´s bad sides.

Yes the people in LA have gone mad, in a pretentious way, but NYC people are straight up nutz. Don't get me wrong I love NYC, I just would not live there. Great place though. Hey Kari maybe we can trade places for a week, that is if you don't live up in Harlem :)

henrietta's hudsons??

@lefthand - yeah, ppl do dance in LA, it is quite cool. i've had some mad times out there!! but i am not a west coast type gal - i like cold weather (just not in june!) and i like not having to own a car.

@goonie - dont u realize that this is the real reason for my complaints!! i want to be in sunny barca, and hearing good music. instead i am in raining nyc and they cancelled my festival!

i'd love to for a week - you buy the tickets! :) and, i used to live in harlem 3 years ago - there is nothing wrong with it! i loved it :) now i live in a neighborhood where everyone speaks spanish - seriously you go into restraunts, all menus are only in spanish and the staff speaks like 10 words of english. so maybe next week i can just pretend i am in barcelona - just not leave my neighborhood and blast loads of good electronic music.

oh, and today sucks too...just had an interview where the guy grilled me and made me feel like complete shit. he was sarcastic and mean - it was awful. i was just like - why the hell did u have me in here in the first place if you thought i was totally underqualified?!? (which i wasn't) damn him!

@Kari

I can't remember the name of it at the mo although I seem to remember having a matchbook with the name on it somewhere's. If its any help, its on a corner and its really small, dark with sort of low level lighting and they tend to play music on the punk/garage vibe.

A lot of help that is innit ??!!

Plus the girl behind the bar plays in a band and gave me a copy of her cd. Top place and nice people.

karitek
6th June 2003, 11:34
yeah...i have no idea. its been years since i've been to that place and i think i only went once. but yes nyc is great - and the bars are one of the best things about it.

that is so weird old skool... when we were out last week, you never said anything about you being a lesbian.
i`m normally quite quick to pick up on those tell tale signs, if one of my male friends becomes a woman seeking other women lol

karitek
7th June 2003, 12:54
i once had some guy who was trying to pick me up say that he was a lesbian trapped in a man's body. i dont know what he was trying to achieve by telling me this (i guess to appear sensitive). it didnt work.

I was gonna tell ya but you just kept talking about YOURself and how great YOUR life was and you didn't even ask me how I was, or how my day went. You just acted like you didn't care. I do have feelings you know and you just trample all over them cos all you care about is music and going out ;-)

If you do remember though, we were discussing wearing them 80's 'power suits' complete with high heels and a lovely briefcase on the way to the boozer.

Erm, well I was anyway ...
