I notice that there is quite a lot of people here from Glasgow or other parts in Scotland. What does everyone do/go out to?... just out of interest :)

Sorry matey, we're no longer running the bus (more folk came via other means). However, the train to Gilmour St station and taxi home is not too bad - or even bring the car , that's what I'll be doing :( Plenty of time for some light refreshment afterwards:)
Apart from that, you don't wanna be leaving your recs on the train now;)

There are also plenty of goings ons in Glasgow City Centre that I'm sure other board members would be happy to enlighten you about.

I'll stick your e-mail on our mailing list as well.....

i live in aberdeen and (i don't want to be negative, but) most of the time its shit, and, i have to say, getting worse.

i have had a go at getting a gig type of thing together, and i haven't altogether given up yet, but getting any kind of venue is a bitch.

hooray for the A90

...but, can some of you glasgownians (is this what you call yourselves?) sample other glasgownians speaking your wonderful glasgownian tongue? Long story short, I LOVE the accent of glasgow, ewan bremner is my most fav actor, in part due to the way he speaks (in other parts due to his acting skills). I'm serious, if you could sample yourselves and MP3 it to me, I'd be SOOOO down to remix you into a track, or just listen to it for hours on end to annoy my room mates. Talk about whatever, discuss how odd of a bloke I am or the weather situation last tuesday..

I'm serious, anybody up for it?

rmr
13th April 2002, 12:23
Nah I dont think so....we are quiet capable of running our own freakshow in Glasgow thanks very much (and anyway ive already sampled my own dulcet tones for my own track)...anyway here's a joke I was told in Edinburgh:

How many Glaswegians does it take to change a light bulb?:

Two, one to change the bulb, and one to score the downers to handle the come down

I pass on without comment the entry in the Viz Roger's Profanisaurus for "Glasgow Shower"

Good show on Friday, Bitch One. Apologies I couldn't hang around after but the responsibilities of parenthood beckoned!!!

never heard that one before I would have just called him an east coast fuck.... but hey who is splitting hairs here? Robert Carlyle was the only glaswegian among them. (not glasgownian or whatever you were trying to say...)

and as for the sampling of our voices, no thats our own little private sample store. you have african men in detroit, ny and san fran, we have cockneys and scots people, its a fair swap, oh and whiskey!

waaheey!

anyone here actually been to ad lib? they seem to have a lot of stuff on but I've never been compeled to go there, it looks a bit crappy.

maikeru
24th April 2002, 12:49
aye ive been there a few times its pretty cool, depends really on what night it is you are going to....

friday nights are ok and so to saturdays but some weeks its soul and funk and then its techno and stuff (claude young, jengaheads etc) its a good mix, and most people who go are off their heids anyway.... what a generalisation but the nights I went it was certainly true....

thats not to say it wasnt a good night.... :)

go try...

dont have an opinion on something unless you have tried it.... Except partner swopping and orgies.......

Been to both True People venues mentioned - good nights in both, real sorta party vibe. Check out Club 69 every second Friday of the month for Nurture for a party vibe, you won't be dissappointed. Keep your eyes peeled for up-and-coming Basic Level nights at the Riverside (first being Fri 24th May). I'll keep you posted of our very special guest....

bob
25th April 2002, 16:03
test is definatly the best club in glasgow for me, I'm dissapointed that I am going to miss Marcin Czubala this friday as I am out of the country, but let me know how it was if anyone goes. Back for the next one:)

rmr
